Naming child after SO's ex, uhh no.

Not even a thread worth reading, but it's just something that bothers me a little. I'm having a girl, she's due this month. Her name was chosen before she was conceived, her father and I both agreed on it. BUT I really like the name "Ally." One problem, it's the name of my husband to be's ex girlfriend that constantly talked about me with his other ex and a bunch of nonsense. Because of that, I refuse to name my little girl Ally, but it is such an adorable name   Maybe a few years down the road when his ex "Ally" falls out of our life and stops contacting my fiance. I just don't want the daily reminder of his ex floating around. I need to grow up and get past things. End vent.

Yeah I had the same problem. My SO's ex before me she wanted a baby and so he got her pregnant but she decided to terminate because her family said she was to young. Well SO brought up the name Justine to me I said okay. Well people started this whole rumor how that was what my SO and his ex were going to name there child. I asked him he said no they never ever discussed names she was only a few weeks pregnant. Just some stupid trouble maker family member wanted to start smurf.

I hate when people ruin a perfectly good name.

But I am confused. You chose the name together before she was conceived. Wasn't it his ex's name then too?

Why dont you name her Alyssa or Alexis. And call her Ally for short?

I think the babies name is going to be something else, but she likes the name Ally.

The name we chose was something my family was supposed to name my older brother, but surpriseeeee he ended up being a boy instead of a girl, haha. Adavia LaRen. Some people think it's pretty, some people think it's atrocious. I think it's unforgettable and she'll suit it well.

I would never name my child anything that even resembled the name of one of mine or DH's exes. Even if they were out of our lives, no thanks.

Yes, and it's rather unfortunate b/c SO doesn't want anymore kids so what the heck :/ Ehhh, maybe he'll change his mind with some time.

when i was pregnant before and had my angel babies one was going to be name dominick tayor or tyler (depended if it was a boy or girl) well DH and i wasn't married at the time and broke up and he got with another woman and they had a child and named him dominick dean upset me when i heard it and she didn't know that was going to be our name DH never told her but now that i think of it don't matter anymore cause it was the first travioli that came to the US name so yeah

Meh, I don't think it's a big deal. My husband's ex is named Tess and I've always loved that name so I really want to use it or Tessa. But he thinks it's weird. Well see.
