My phone hasn't been staying charged nearly long enough. Burns 50% within a few hours without being touched at all and without any apps running. This was very sudden and dramatic. So I drove all the way to Easton's apple store at the town center. They said I would be getting a completely new phone because my battery was literally dying BUT I would have to pay $30 to replace the cracked back plate. its purely cosmetic damage. my phone got knocked off the bathroom counter by a cat, with a case on it and it cracked from the top corner outward. They said they will just replace the 4S with a brand new 4S.

I have AppleCare, paid $100 for it. The lady was like "oh heehee you can just pay $29 instead of using one of your AppleCare incidents for this teeheehee" ... I've had the phone for almost 9 months, so closer to a year now. My plan with sprint lasts 2 years and then I'll get an upgrade (which will probably be an android or something). I think I should use my AppleCare. What are your opinions?

My phone did that and it was because my wifi was dropping and burning through the battery. Are you sure that isn't the problem? I say just pay the $30 if that isn't the problem.

The wifi setting was shut off. I don't like connecting to the campus wifi, so I keep it off. Why do you think I should pay $30 because of that? I will reiterate this.. The $30 is to replace the backplate of a phone they are just going to recycle or toss out

I asked them what was the purpose if the AppleCare plan then and they tried telling me some bs. So I called up their customer service and complained. They then refunded me the money that I used to buy the AppleCare plan.

I just might do that. I was told that the plan covered everything, for 2 separate incidents of damage by any means OR technical problems on the company's part (didn't include jail broke phones of course). So I thought hell yeah! Considering how much they cost to repair. I was almost hooked because i was confused. I left.

I was told, that there is a $30 deductible any time they have to replace the phone.

I'm calling them in 20 minutes. I was told that was that, it was insurance for 2 years. Bunch of bullsmurf!! That's a scam.. They didn't disclose everything, lied actually. I asked in detail about all this crap.

They're still replacing the phone. You would be getting a brand new phone for $30 I'd just do it.

It's really not, it's a $500|+ phone. Would you rather have to pay that to get a new one? Not me.

Me too. I got it anyway because I'd rather pay 30 than 500

It is sleazy simply because they did not disclose that there is also a service fee for each incident, when I asked about it. I wouldn't bother getting a new iPhone, I would shell out $100-$200 for an entirely different smartphone happily before getting another iPhone if that is what it boils down to. Right now I don't have money. I have to fix my car again so $30 means the difference of getting to class or not. I have to drive long distance and lost my job that was paying for my gas
