M woke up with a stomach ache and diarrhea. He is in full day kindergarten and is usually so excited to go but he asked to stay home today because of his belly ache. No fever, no other symptoms except a lack of appetite but isnotherwise totally acting normal, playing, singing etc. His school takes absences dry seriously and I don't know what to do. I'm leaning toward keeping him home. What would you do?

If he has diarrhea I would keep him home. If he isn't complaining in a few hours you can always take him late.

Oh man, diarrhea at school could be problematic. Especially if he has a bitch-ass teacher that doesn't let them go when they need to....  

I say keep him home.

Id keep him home. Having the poops at school is no fun. My kids have actually gotten sent home from having the smurfs.

Teachers that won't let kids go when they need to are usually in older grades.

Which in that fact a teacher or anyone else for that matter can not deny anyone the right to use the bathroom.

The have a bathroom attached to their classroom that they can use whenever the need.
I'm gong to keep him home. He hasn't missed a full day yet, only a few hours one morning for a doctors appointment. I've been waiting for a chance to keep him home. Lol
I'm one of those moms who still gets sad every morning I have to drop him off. HE'S STAYING HOME!! Yay!!

Ooops, I said take him but somehow missed the diarrhea. Definitely keep him home and love the opportunity to baby him!

My oldest is only in preschool but the teacher has already spoken to me about his bathroom habits   She's not mean about it- she was concerned because he pees twice in a 2.5 hour timeframe. HA.

However, my friend's son is in kindergarten and he gets notifications sent home about everything. Bathroom, lunch, not freezing in time during freezetag, not making his hexagons straight enough....

I had a teacher try to do that to me in 8th grade. It was a sub. I asked if I could go he told me no. I told him I thought I started my period...shut him up real fast

HAHA I used to be like that......now I live for them to go to school. My house is so much quieter with 3 boys at school and just my daughter home. 2 more years and Im all alone during the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kindergarten teachers are smurfing ridiculous anymore. When my oldest went into K the requirements were so different from when my youngest son went in last year.

I tried to send my son to daycare one day during the summer when he complained of a belly ache and he threw up in my car.  

Plus he LOVES school and gets upset if he can't go. So anytime he tells me he has a belly ache and doesn't think he can go, I listen. There is NO way I'm reliving that.  

And he doesn't ask me often. The two or three times he's done it, once he had gone to the bathroom and pooped, he felt better and we just went to school late. But at least my car stayed clean!

What my friend tells me is so bad that we're moving to a better district. My sister had a lot of problems with her daughter going to the same school.

My friend's son- the first week of school, they put him in a detention room with 5th graders. I have a serious issue with that.
