When did you give your baby..

posted 9th Nov
A blanket ?
I mean a thick one like the quilt that comes with the crib bedding ?

My DD is 10 months old and Iv'e never put anything in her crib before.
I've heard do it during naps and see what they do and she does fine.
I just worry since I'll be sleeping and probably wont wake to check on her.

I think it was around 10-11 months. But it wasn't thick or heavy. It was a crocheted baby blanket.

Heavier than a recieving blanket, but not like a comforter

i dont use DS's quilt, its a little big for him lol, but i use the fluffy soft blankets and just tuck them around his bottom half so he cant get his arms and pull it on his face, hes only 2 months old though and doesnt roll over yet.

DS is 8 mo. He has a blanket and he does fine with it. I gave it to him when he could roll over, sit up, and pull things away from his face. He got tangled up a few weeks ago in an adult sized blanket playing peek a boo and just sat calmly and figured out how to get out. I took that as a sign he was ready.

Sorry but that is extremely dangerous, especially since he cannot roll.

He shouldn 't have any blankets. THe soft fluffy ones are dangerous.

Put him in a sleep sack if he needs extra warmth at night

Mine has bad a quilt since about 9 months old but I was turning it sideways and tucked it in under the because he tends to move about in his sleep and I didn't want him to get too far under and freak out

Should I start with a thinner one than the quilt?
She knows how to get a blanket off of her head.
But sometimes she will sleep with her face planted in the mattress and I don't see how she breathes like that

If she doesn't NEED one, I wouldn't give one at all

But if she does need one, I would use the thinnest, lightest one that would work.

Ive also used crocheted ones since my kids were born, as soon as LO was able to roll I used whatever blanket was appropriate for the weather, most of the time I co-sleep so they use my blanket anyways... I'm not super paranoid about those kind of things... I'm just cautious

Agree. I co-sleep they use mine, but if I lay them down alone I keep my house cold so they get tucked into a blanket. Never had a problem I check them a lot. Or keep them visible. All three since they were born. Your baby, your choice. Doesn't make you a bad parent. Some are just overly careful. That's their choice.

I keep the heat on 68-70 at night and I dress her warm.
But sometimes I find when I wake up in the middle of the night to check on her her skin is cold.
Sometimes she wakes up a little snotty and congested if it's really cold outside during the night.
