How do you know the difference....

How do you know the difference between braxton hicks and real contractions? This is my first baby.

Real contractions hurt and get worse over time. You may be feeling them in your back. Tummy ones kind of wrap around your tummy

I know this is going to sound annoying and I hated being told it while I was pregnant with my first, but you'll know. They don't feel a damn thing alike, or at least I didn't think so. You'll know when you're in labor.

BH contractions shouldn't hurt and are irregular. You should just feel tighting in your tummy area. Real contractions are regular and they hurt. You would feel em wrapped around your tummy and sometimes your back

I was really freaking out earlier because I was in a stressful situation where I started yelling and hyperventalating earlier and then started having really frequent (less than 5 minutes apart) braxton hicks.

I called to set up transportation to my O.B. appointment like usual (I use free transportation covered by medicaid) and he tried to tell me I needed to switch to a closer O.B. because my O.B. is more than 20 miles away....I'm 34 weeks along and they've been taking me to my ob no problem since I was 11 weeks along....the smurfhead didn't know his head from his ass but was refusing to set up my transportation. Until he figured out it was his mistake.

I don't trust the hospital in my hometown i've heard nothing but horror stories so I go to an o.b. and will deliver at a hospital about 25-30 minutes from my hometown and the smurf was trying to tell me it had to be less than 20 miles away. I was like "I have been going to all my appointments no problem for almost my entire 8 months of pregnancy!"

Oh thats good you can get transported there.

If they've gone away its most likely Braxton hicks or not established labour.
Real hardcore contractions take your breath away and are lingual and uncomfortable. Being your first baby, the pain will be quite bad for you because you won't know what to expect. You'll know when it's time

How are you going to get to hospital when you're in labour? Are you going To use the transportation service?

No I have my own place but parents live in the same town so I will make my dad take me to the hospital he just can't take me to all my appointment bc he has to work but when i'm in labor i'm sure his work will understand.

Also sometimes when i've had to go to the hospital I call a friend or relative to take me but that's only in extreme cases. I.E. I called and talked to my O.B.'s nurse or an L&D nurse and they reccommend I come in right away to get checked out.

Yea I just pray for no snow when I go into labor or else I might be forced to deliver in the smurffy hospital here in town....Oh I would die...having a stranger deliver my baby in a hospital I don't trust. I'd be so pissed off and i'd be a total bitch the whole time!
