Unicornuate Uterus

posted 8th Nov
Anyone know if they have one? I just found out I have one yesterday during my Tubal Ligation surgery.

Unicornuate uterus

A unicornuate uterus is half the size of a normal uterus and there is only one fallopian tube. Because of its shape, it is described as a uterus with one horn. It is a very rare abnormality. It develops in the earliest stages of life, when the tissue that forms the uterus does not grow properly. If you have a unicornuate uterus, you probably have two ovaries. Only one will be connected to your uterus, though.

Nope, 3 perfect pregnancies, 3 healthy babies. My OB didn't get to talk to me after the surgery yesterday but I do have a post op appointment in 2 weeks and I have a smurf ton of questions for him. He did give my SIL a couple of pictures he took lol and he made a diagram of what it looks like and it's pretty much that pic in the OP. He told SIL that the don't usually go looking for something like this unless they have reason to: miscarriage, complications, unable to get pregnant. And that even with an ultrasound, it can be hard to detect unless you know what you're looking for.

And the reason I'm looking for other people with this condition, is because I've been reading about it a lot since yesterday...and there's a possibility I only have one kidney.

yay for missing organs.

My husbands aunt has this. It was actually just last week we were talking about it. She had a c-section and the doctor actually pulled out her uterus afterward and examined it because he had seen nothing like it before (1989, here. Ha.) I just have a tilted uterus. So I have to prop my hips up anytime they wanna check smurf out down there.

I have a retro flexed uterus, not entirely sure if its the same thing you're talking about. But, they prop me up, too and it still hurts. It's hard to find the baby's heartbeat, too because of it. I was in the hospital last weeks and they literally fought for an hour to get him on the monitor, lol.

They've never given me an actual name for it. I should ask. But they mention it a lot. I have to prop up and The doctor has to push up to find my cervix. It's painful no matter what. Sucks butt. I've never had a problem finding heartbeats though, luckily. That'd freak me out!

Haha they put it back! and she had two more kids. It just amazed them. They had no idea what was wrong with it. It wasn't til about 2000 that they finally gave her a name and diagnosis for it.

unicorns and glitter!

I have a didelphys uterus. I can only carry on my right side during pregnancy. Super uncomfy menstruation. Doc tried to tell me I would always have breech babies after my first was breech and stuck in my ribs. But, by some miracle, my second was never breech and they were going to let me deliver him vaginally after my water broke and he was -2 station. However, he was also stuck.

Yay for modern medicine! C sections suck, the outcome is awesome though.
