Such a horrible mother

posted 8th Nov
I was cleaning off the computer desk and there lays my sons unfinished homework. How could I forget? I've been so stressed worrying about a job. Though DH makes decent money. But right now he is reading the words he has a test on tomorrow. I completely forgot tomorrow was Friday! What am I going to do about the other 2 pages? One page requires crayons and I have not a single clue what he did with his. The other is practicing writing the letter G. He has always got good grades and honor roll. His homework is never on my desk. It's always on the fridge so DS and I remember that's where it is kept. I've been slacking as a mother. What is wrong with me? I feel like such a crappy mom right now I want to cry. He has always turned it In early

TIA for listening to my rant.

You're not a horrible mom. We all misplace and forget things from time to time. It happens.

Try and have him get as much done as he can. If you need to, write a letter to his teacher in the morning.

Thanks momma. If I get him up a little earlier he can do the G sheet but I have to write a letter about the crayons. Still feel crappy though.

*hugs*

The fact that you're this concerned over it proves that you're not a crappy mom. We all make mistakes. Don't beat yourself up over it. <3

5. 6 in on the 7th of December. That's what I said. I don't know where this week went! Maybe that's why it slipped my mine. I know he will be highly disappointed when his homework isn't turned in like everyone else's. At least he studied his words.

I know how you Feel!
When Dadda's Home & get's to My Son's Homework before I do it can get All Bad! & the worst of it is that usually on Thursday's(Tuesdays too) there's no time for Homework, 'cause we HAVE to have a Nap in the Afternoon(it's only supposed to be an Hour, but he usually ends up taking 3 Hours or more, it's THAT nexxessary), & have Taekwon Do around Supper! & Our TKD is very important Mentally & Physically for Him!

Our son used to do it but it got pricey paying for that monthly then baseball and now football. Plus our girls to gymnastics so we are always busy. Fall is busy because we always have family gatherings. Birthdays. We rarely have a ton of free time

Sad thing is around here it's one of the Cheapest Options. He's not really into playing Sports, but he Loves the Movements.
I can only imagine if Baseball & Football are as expensive as Hockey(& the Other Team Sports are here) how Much you have to Fork over!
We're planning on eventually Martial Arts, Gymnastics, Dance, Swimming & Horseback Riding (actually the Cheapest other than the Transportation out to the Farm!) for Both (All) Our Kids. I know My Daughter's also going to want Cheer....& Umm.... Yeah.... Massive OUCH! But at least the (K-12)School My Daughter will be going to should have the Dance portion well taken care of! But we think that she's going to want to go Competitive.
My Son's only done 2 Months of TKD & Already wants to Drive for his Black Belt! O.O I'm glad the Program he's in has it figured that a Dedicated Adult can get their Black Belt in about 3.5 Years, but Can go Faster if they Go Hardcore. But Kids have other Rules, they Must be 8 to get their 3rd Belt, Must be 10 for their 5th Belt, & 11 for their First Black Belt. They Can get their next Belts faster, but they have so many extra things they have to do at the Younger ages to be able to get to the next Level that they have to go Beyond Super Hard Core. To that Point of Hard core where there is Nothing that a Parent can do to Get them there faster other than Support them. They have to have that Drive that No one Can force! My Son is 5. We've told him that if he REALLY want's his Black Belt HE has to work at it Hard. And that this year he must go at the Basic Pace, Next year if he still wants it that hard we'll put in the Extra Classes & let him go Hard. I Hope he wants his Belt but not Super Hardcore, 'cause that's when it get's REALLY Expensive!

DS loved his TKD but it was almost $200 a month (cheapest) for his black belt and he doesn't have much time with baseball in the spring and football in the fall. He does good to keep up his grades since he is taken out twice a week for speech therapy and extra tutoring for his reading. So another sport and less time just isn't the best for him right now. Our oldest daughter will be taken dance by the spring as well as gymnastics (does that now) and our youngest may go to tee ball.

Yah it's Fun trying to Balance everything out, especially when you don't have Unlimited Funding for it all!
The only thing about if he DOES go that Super Hard Core to have his Black Belt before he's 10, he Might get it Scholarshiped! I Doubt, but it would be Nice! My Daughter I definitely wouldn't be Surprised if she ends up Scholarshipped for Dance!
My Son's in a School where One Day out can make it really difficult to catch up. To give you An Idea is that he's in Kindergarten & has had upwards of 8 Hours of Homework a week! Technically his own fault, I think it should have taken him an Hour in total. But he was too tired, & Kept Goofing around. Should have Made him have a Nap that Day!

The black belt program here could of taken my son till 12 yrs of age, same they offer scholarships but he strives more in baseball. I must admit thought my son is highly active in school too. I know they offer soccer program (just the basics) that he want to try and everything but it's hard because DS wants new baseball equipment and some he needs new of. Luckily, gymnastics for both girls is only $16 a week due to their teacher coming to their daycare. But we have another LO on the way and we can handle everything financially but I know time next yr is going to be tougher. I know when my son gets older he is capable of getting a scholarship for baseball. We don't force them (our kids) to anything they don't like but we do want them to participate in something whether its an art club or sports they have to do something. I think it makes them more well rounded and teaches them time management when they get older. I am just glad that he is striving in school because of past teacher not being able to understand him due to speech. Most times I don't have to remind him of homework because like I said it's normally on the fridge and he sees it and does it. His teacher sends home a packet of homework every Friday and due the following Friday. The packets are anywhere from 2 pages to 6 and most are front and back.

Nice on Your Girl's Gymnastics! I Just paid $130 for 8 weeks for My Daughter!
I'm hoping that My Son's ll be opening up
Yeah they really need to have Some Sort of Extracurricular, I Agree it does make them Better all around.
Glad your Son's Teacher is understanding of your Son!
My Son get's His Homework Packet on Monday, to be Handed in on Friday, & certain things that HAVE to be done on certain Days, & other things that just have to be done & in his Backpack on Friday. I wish we'd have it for the Weekend, since He want's to do it all the First Night any way, & it would mean we can do it on Saturday/Sunday.
If it was My House, it would probably have been a Good Bet that DH was the reason that things weren't were they're supposed to be!
