Winter baby.

posted 8th Nov
This will be my first time having a baby during a cold winter. I'm from south Florida so my experience with cold weather is fairly limited. What kind of wardrobe should I be putting together for my baby? She's coming February 28th at the latest and where I live in Kentucky is pretty windy.

I am so clueless. Both my girls went home in short sleeves, lol.

Long sleeved onesies, fleece or terry cloth sleepers, lots of warm pants, socks (or Robeez <3 ) hats, zip-up sweatshirts.

I'm not doing snow suits or thick coats, since they can't wear them in the car seat anyway.

Make sure you have lots of blankets to tuck around her.

I bought my baby something like this:

but a christmas one. And then she'll also have a few blankets and a car seat cover/hat/mittens. It's most likely gonna be pretty cold here, so gotta be prepared.

Maybe a stupid question, but are caps safe in a car seat? I was thinking a fleece cap would be good since it's so windy here and pretty bitter until April.

You wanna get a cozy cover, thin sweaters, bodysuits, thin jackets. Pants, pants pants. If its not warm you want them covered. Hats and hand warmers. Booties if you like them (I think socks suffice).
Don't buy any thick heavy jackets because she should NOT wear anything thick in a car seat. You might know that but a lot of people don't. Layer over caraway straps, not under. A blanket will keep her just as warm as a winter coat. Good luck!

Oooo, I'll have to keep an eye for some of those! That would be perfect for trips downtown!

Cap.. as in hat? Hats are fine. They make car seat covers, also, but I'm not sure how safe they really are or if they void the warranty.

I'm in southern Ohio. Winter sucks.

Covers are safe, as long as they don't interfere with the straps.

They do, however, void the warranty.

what about a boot cover? like those ones that cover the foot area...they only attach onto the car seat, and dont attach to the harness...ive seen a few car seats here that come with them, like the manufacturer gives it with the car seat...
