I'm early but it's to keep my mind busy...Help?

I'm only 26 weeks but I've got all her baby clothes already. I just need baby socks and booties. But I'm just putting my hospital bag together now. My boyfriend works during the day, and I'm trying to keep myself occupied.

How many outfits (Specifically like onsies and sleepers)
Should I be packing? How many onsies, and how many sleepers.
I've heard the hospital will provide yada yada and so on.
But I like having my own things with me in those situations.

Any idea?


(also I'll be giving birth anywhere between late January and early February. My due date is Valentines day.) And I live in FL but it's been rather cold already...

I just packed about 6 different things. I would pack light sleepers (you dont want baby to overheat). Mine 4th was born in the summer, so I packed onesies. If you are in the hospital 2-3 days, that gives you about 2 outfits a day.

I'd say two or three for each day you will be in the hospital.
In case baby poops big or spits up everywhere, lol.

I took one outfit for each day I would spend inthe hospital. On average for a vaginal delivery that's 1-2 days and C-section 3-4 days plus an extra outfit for going home.

I just did three of everything for me and baby...it was more than enough! I went home the day after delivery both times

I had some clothes with me, but I'll only be taking a few this time, since last time I had a hard time getting them back. I would change her, and then the nurses would disappear with her, and she'd come back in a different outfit. I was constantly asking for my clothes back. Not sure if this is a common problem or not.

you dont need any outfits for the baby for the hospital... they put them in tshirts, and its easier for the nurses to take their vital signs, etc. plus you dont want to bring home loads of dirty laundry. bring one of two outfits for taking the baby home.

bring a few pairs of sweatpants for yourself and tank tops, or whatever you wear. something comfortable...

bring whatever you'd want for a weekend away from home... your make up, phone, etc. its not difficult...

and you're packing WAAAAY to early...

we packed 3 or 4 outfits for her i think and good thing too cuz we had to have a c section. I packed 2 going home outfits, one in newborn and one in 0-3 months because they told me she was gonna b a big baby and i wanted to make sure i had somethin tht would fit her. I also packed outfits in 0-3 months and newborn. She wound up wearing newborn but tht didn't last long. Anyway its all up to you rlly. Just dnt pack anything u wouln want ruined (except comin home outfit) because when they r first born the dye stuff on their umbi can stain. And make sure u have enuff without over packing.

I live in Florida to and I am having her Tuesday, it has been quite chilly. So I packed the fuzzy footed pajamas, regular pajamas and onsies along with some stretchy pants. Since I don't know if it will be chilly or warm the day we go home. I packed different sizes, newborn and 0-3 outfits. I also packed socks, hats, mittens, receiving blankets and fuzzy blankets for the baby. I am the same way I prefer her to be in her own clothing and have my own things.

I am just saying I would prefer her in her own clothing. I don't want to look stupid if usually people bring clothing for them during there stay. I am new to this I don't know if they only provide outfits for the baby just because people may not bring there own. Or if that they prefer them in the clothing they provide because it is easier. It was nothing about what I want I just don't know how it goes.

okay, so im filling you in!

bring your baby an ourfit or two, so she has something to wear home.

while in the hospital they like you to keep the tshirts on them. they're just plain white, and snap in the front. it makes it so much easier for the nurse to check their vitals, change diapers, etc. they change them several times a day. it also keeps baby perfect temperature. then they swaddle them up. save the outfits for going home.

we put our daughter in clothes we brought from home and they had no probs with it. She wore sleep and plays, and onesies. stuff like tht with pants and with the sleep and plays they just undid a few buttons and with onsies they just slipped it under to get heartbeat and temp and everything. You could dress your child in whatever you want. Gowns are wonderful but we didnt pack any.

I reject that theory about it's not what we want... It kind of definitely is...
I'll put her in something that's easy for them to do vital signs, but I'd feel much more comfortable with her in something comfortable, and familiar... I see those pics from friends who give birth, and their babies are in the clothes that the mother and father prefer... Nurses should know and be used to catering... Not making their lives easier... It's about a good first experience... I would flip out if they had changed her into something different, while I were sleeping etc., and the only reason was because it made something easier, and not because the baby herself had ruined the outfit and they didn't have the next I'd picked out...

Also I know I'm packing early I gave a reason in the question. And admittedly so. Borderline Pre-E and I've been told since the beginning better to be ready than rush to the hospital with nothing. Also I'm going stir crazy. I have to do something.
