SAHMs with school aged kids

posted 8th Nov
Anyone stay home after their kids were in school? Are you still busy or is that actually free time? Do you go to all your kids' field trips and volunteer at school? Do you think it's important to stay home once the kids are in school?

I plan on staying home after my kids are in school.. so that I can go to their school functions, help out on field trips, etc.

I am about to have another at home...but my older two are in school and I've been volunteering at their schools. It takes up a good chunk of time. The teachers are always so appreciative of the help.

I always said there was no way I would but lately ive been thinking I might want to. But I don't want to get terribly bored and depressed.

I was beyond busy! I had church, their school and workouts. I never had time. I literally was getting up at 3am to fit everything in.

I look forward to the kids going to school, there would be no reason for me to stay home. Even with a full time job, DH and I would be able to attend field trips and functions.

My oldest started kindrgarten this year. I'm still at home but I also have a 22 month old home with me and another on the way. I volunteer a lot in my son's classroom and with his sports teams and what not. So with all that, school, my daughter and the house and family stuff, I'm extremely busy.
I'll probably stay home once they are all in school sonthat I can stay just as involved in their lives and school. But who knows? I might feel differently when the time comes.

What do you do to help out?

I remember the kids whose parents volunteered and it seemed like they were the houses that everyone hung out at too. I want to be that parent, I was always kinda jealous of those kids and I remember how proud I was when MY mom was a chaperone.

Of course once we were older it was different, but in elementary school that's how it was.

I have two school aged and one that is 6 months. Before the baby was born I was very busy with my daily house stuff, school activities and church activities and sports. I wish I would have had time to watch TV and eat Bon Bons like so many people think SAHMs do.

My oldest's school I go help out with center time and I told the teacher if she ever needs me to make copies/etc I will help with that. My youngest is in preK so I go help with lunch (they eat family style instead of cafeteria style), brushing teeth, and getting them down for naps. I also take pictures of the class doing stuff for their end of year DVD.
