re: Legalizing Weed?

posted 8th Nov
i know this guy who had really bad nerve damage due to being in the military and he had 2 surgeries that made him worst so he is on percot and other types of pills. He wants so badly to be able to smoke weed(he used to before going into the military) cause he feels it would help him better. But the place where he lives weed is illegal. It sucks that he would have to pick up and move across country with his family just to be able to try something more than just pills. I feel if it truly helps a person health wise they should be able to do. Honestly I don't think weed is that bad for sometimes use as well. It's something that grows from the earth and isn't all that harmful, but they make all this medicines that do nothing but get people hooked on it and sometimes doesn't even help for what they are going through(Mentally and physically)

No, I think it's perfectly fine for OCCASIONAL recreational use, but there are a lot of people out there that can't limit themselves to that. It's a lot easier for most people to smoke and go about their day than to get drunk and do the same, so I feel people would be using it more than they should. I use to smoke on my way to work. Then on my way home from work. Sometimes I'd go to a friend's house instead and we'd smoke some more. It was a problem, but it was somewhat easier to function after smoking than drinking, so I think it would be a lot easier for people to abuse weed than they do any other drug or alcohol. The thing is, is that it does impair your judgement, and slow your reactions. I can't stand when SO smokes and tries to have a conversation with me because it's impossible to have an intelligent conversation with him. Thankfully he cut back A LOT and only smoked before bed to help him sleep, now he says he's quitting.

Though, it's a tough place for me because I think it would really help the economy for it to be legal and taxed everywhere.

Ugh my cousin smokes all day, and like 3 joints at a time. That's wayyy too much. I'm all for smoking but when it controls you like that, there's a problem. I do enjoy smoking to get high occasionally, but that's usually only once a week

Yes! That's the point that I think it's a problem, once a week or so is perfectly fine by me. I just think when someone has a need to get high just to get high every day, like I admittedly was doing before, is the point that the person needs to take control of their lives and find something more productive to do with their lives. I feel like they're trying to escape something in the real world by just getting high all the time.

See I know for me, even if it was passed her recreationally, my use age wouldn't change. But I know a few who would use that as an excuse. I really don't get it. They go to work high. I cant do that. Why would I do that?

Even if it were legalized here, I wouldn't smoke. I've tried it and it makes me sick, literally.

Now, legalize all drugs? I'd go for that. I use ecstasy about once every year or so. I actually see that being legalized for medicinal use sometime in the next decade or so because the military is now testing it on soldiers with PTSD with good results.

They have had studies that show that instead of seveal appointments to open up and realize your experiences, it takes one. MDMA helps you connect with what has happened and help you talk about it.

I've smoke weed and i don't like how i am on it because i too have very dumb conversations...I will talk about one thing and just forget what i was talking about. I guess everyone is different but i do like it for when i'm by myself it makes me so calm

There are several studies that have been done in the UK showing astonishing results in PTSD with the use of pure Ecstasy, MDMA. In fact one of the studies was shown on TV over 2 nights about a month ago with a live debate going on at the same time showing the therapeutic use of MDMA. People who had been trying to deal with it for years unsuccessfully using all different avenues suddenly after just one session were showing major breakthroughs with it and after 2 or 3 therapy sessions with the use of MDMA were basically "cured".

All of my best ideas involved alcohol in some form lol..and they do have proposed..medical..emotional or even just recreational..some people have fun and that's a good enough reason to do anything..if safe and responsible

Yeah, we were actually ironically looking into moving to either CO or WA before all of this even started, and even if we do move there I wouldn't smoke. I'm over it, and I know that even though I don't like the way I am socially when I smoke, once I start I keep doing it for smurf knows why lol I guess I have an addictive personality.

But that's extremely interesting about MDMA, bc I know it does open you up. Now, that is a drug that I don't actually mind people doing once or twice a year as you said you do. MDMA makes you really take in a lot of your surroundings and makes you more aware of just life. Same with mushrooms, too, and those are natural which is just another plus in my book. ;)
But again, these substances need to be taken seriously by the people using them, and again, there are people out there that just don't have the right amount of self control to limit their use. :/

I don't smoke at all and I am all for it! I hope Wisconsin does the same! And maybe Missouri (although that is doubtful)

Don't you run the risk of developing depression, sometimes severe, from the use of MDMA?

Chronic daily use, but you run the risk of suicidal thoughts and depression with most of the anti depression meds out there. Abilify is notorious for it.
