live in the uk so its not legal at all here, i obviously dont do it now im pregnant but, i did smoke weed on a pretty much day to day basis until the day i found out, i personally would rather have a joint than a drink, and i think weed is safer than alcohol, yeah sure if you abuse it and smoke it all day every day chances are its gonna smurf with your body and mind, but alcohol will do the same probably quicker too (btw when i say i smoked pretty much every day it would be 1 joint in the evening after work to chill out after i got everything done, it wasnt an all day, everyday kinda thing) now that im having my baby i wouldnt go back to smoking it like that, but if i was out with friends one night i might do, same as i wouldnt get pissed while im taking care of my baby, ive taken harder drugs too and wouldnt be very happy about my little one taking them (when theyre older obv) but i dont think id have that much of a problem with them having the odd joint (over 16/1 

I believe that the only reason that pot is considered the "gateway drug" is because you have to make an illegal connection to get it. If people could get it legally, they wouldn't be required to find a drug dealer and have access to all the other drugs, not to mention running the risk of having their pot laced with something.

I smoke. Almost daily infact. If and when I get PG I wont do it too far into pregnancy and not as often as I do now...

Ive seen alcohol do much more damage than weed.

  I don't think it's a gateway drug either. Some people have addictive personalities and some have the "need to get high". Those people will try other drugs if they want to, regardless of marijuana use. That's like saying alcohol is a gateway drug or that everyone who drinks is an alcoholic. I believe there ARE people who can smoke pot OCCASIONALLY to have a good time, just like there are people who can drink occasionally. Then there are others who can't just drink occasionally and are alcohol abusive or alcoholics. For example, my sister can't smoke pot at all because she knows she is easily hooked on it and will just smoke all day every day, so she has to avoid it altogether.

I have no qualms with marijuana recreationally as long as it's not impacted your daily life or keeping you from getting or keeping a job etc.

Also, there is some study on Jamaicans who smoked pot while pregnant and breastfeeding. It seems like the baby's were smarter or something.... The effects were not negative, I do remember that.

I don't really think it should be legal. I know it isn't really terribly bad for the body, but for one thing, it stinks, promotes bad habits, and is a waste of money. And yes, people do get addicted to it. I think there are better things a person could do with their time, and there are definitely better things to spend money on. I also don't support it for medicinal use, but to each their own.

WA and CO passed it recreationally, not medically.

I am for the legalization of all drugs. If people are stupid enough to use drugs (not marijuana), let them. Darwinism, FTW. Let the stupid die out...

Marijuana is NOT a gateway drug. If anything, alcohol is. If alcohol is legal, MJ should be too. It's less dangerous and no one has died from direct use of it. Can't say that about alcohol.

Also, in the states that it passed, it will be regulated like alcohol. You have to be 21 to buy it.

That is an addiction to PCP/Cocaine/ETC. Not marijuana.
With it being legal, contamination is less likely to happen.

I don't think cigarettes or alcohol should be legal either.

I started smoking weed when I was 15 and stopped when I was 17. It never affected me as a person, or my studies. I tried "ice" once and didn't like it. I never tried any other drug.
I don't like labeling weed as a gateway drug. It's different for everyone and if the person becomes dependent on the drug, then it becomes less effective and of course they would try other things.
My brother started smoking a little after I did. He continues to smoke however he has never done any other drug, does not drink, is responsible, has a job, has his house and car. I honestly think the people we hear about on the news that use marijuana are what give it a bad rap.
I'm for the legalization of marijuana. Those states I believe have legalized it for recreational use if it's under 1 ounce.
The other states that allow marijuana are only for medicinal use and they have to have 'permits'.

My SIL gets high every nght at 10 pm after her niece (whom she has custody of) goes to bed. Then she gets goofy and randomly calls peoplein the middle of the night. She has called us. She called hubby's uncle and he l her "dont call here again" and hung up on her. I have seen other members of Hubby' family. They all act like dumbasses when they are high. I am embarrassd for them. I dont try setting funds away to go visit because it is boring sitting there all day watching people come in his mom's house completely high or trashed./

That's...pretty stupid. Some states get most of their money from tobacco, including my state. If I am an adult and I want to have a drink, I should be able to do so. I can do and put anything I want into my body. I'm a big girl.
