so i think im going to get my cat fixed. not only for me but for her too. when she was born her mother and four siblings died. when i took her to the vet they said she had feline leukemia and told me to put her down but i didnt. she is over a year old now and acts healthy to me( eats, drinks, plays, doesnt have pain). however she has been strictly an indoor cat because if she was to get pregnant she would most likely die. Her mother was a wild cat so this cat isnt like normal cats. I hoping getting her fixed will calm her down and possibly make it where i can let her outside. i have never got an animal fixed before and the process dont sound fun. recovery is 7-10 days and i was told she cant jump and cant lick her cut. they said since she is already a hyper cat that first day she will probably be angry and crazy. sounds stupid but i feel bad for making it to where she cant have babies. i know shes not a human but i still feel bad for putting her through the pain. please i have 3 month i have to take care of while im caring for the cat. this whole thing sounds stupid..i feel bad but i know i need to get it down. i never wanted to fix an animal

It's actually a very loving thing to do, to get your pets fixed.....for so many reasons. Id never have an animal without making sure they were fixed.

you should always spay females, if you are not going to breed them. Females who are not spayed are susceptible to uterine disease which can lead to death.

If she is strictly indoors you don't need to....but if she goes into heat you have to swirl a cuetip around her privates otherwise she will be extremely annoying for days and days

that is 100% false. Not spaying females is dangerous to their health.

Spaying(& Neutering) & never having had a Litter in Cats & Dogs has actually been shown to reduce the incidences of Cancer in them. The earlier it's done (starting around 6 Months old, or before a Females first Heat) the Better the Cancer Prevention.
Feline Leukemia is actually also a "Contactable"(from cat to cat) Virus, the same as Feline Aids. If a cat get's into a Fight they can contract it, if they're just friendly they can Contract it, far less Sex.
Fixing her will help prevent Cancer in her, & Keeping her inside the House will help to prevent her from passing on a Known Deadly Illness, far less getting another one since she's already Immune-Comprimised.

Spaying/Neutering is a Gift to your Pet. If there is nothing exceptionally worth passing On, & they're not in Perfect Health Physically & Genetically it is Not worth keeping them intact. They Deserve more! & For Cat Females sex is definitely not "Enjoyable" since a Male Cat's Penis essentially has Fish Hooks on it that Point Backwards!

Um no its not necessarily ....plus the cat already has leukemia..she is going to die eventually ...why put her through more pain?

I've been working with animals for 5 years now ( in and out of vet clinic) and I went to school for vet technology....I know a little bit about feline disease and the reproductive system

did not know that about the male cat penis. if its not enjoyable why does she want it so bad...sticks her ass up all the time and flocks to males(SO, friends, ect)when in heat. i dont understand

Its up to you...but letting her be an outdoor cat has its risks as well...not only to your cat...but FeLV is extremely contagious
