circumcision

posted 8th Nov
So I'm pregnant with my third child and we find out on the 27th if it's a boy or a girl. I've really been contemplating on having the baby circumcised, it's a choice I'm not sure on. So I was seeking a little help with your input. Facts, reasons to do it or not to do it, if your against it explain why and if your for it explain that also. Please I'm not seeking drama. Just looking for some advice (:

TIA ladies

We are not circumcising simply because I feel as though it's an unnecessary procedure. There is no benefit for getting it done.

My BD and I decided not to get my DS circumcised. You're supposed to be able to pull back the skin at about age three, but he'd scream everytime I'd try. I took him to the doctor and was told that his foreskin had fused to the head of his thing. Getting him circumcised at age 3 is soooo much worse than doing it when they're babies. My kid was afraid to go to the bathroom because he said it hurt so bad.

I didnt circumcise my son because I dont see much point in it. SO isnt circumcised.

Got some crap for it from my dr tho. I dont buy into some of the scare tactics they try sell like being at a higher risk for infections and std's. If theyre safe and use good hygiene, I dont see the problem.

Unless your son is born with a deformity...don't do it....its his body and permanently altering it for bs POSSIBLE benefits or simply because his Dad is circ'd is ignorant....For one baby boys die every year from complications during the surgery...its not worth the risk....second its his body he should have a say... The majority of men in the world are intact and have no issues....its not just a piece of skin....it is fused while he is an infant to PREVENT infections and it also has like 20,000 nerve endings that enhance sexual pleasure...also provides less friction during sex which is great for their future partner.

This is a lecture at a university on routine infant circumcision - just copy and paste

I left the decision up to my husband because essentially he knows what it is like to live with a penis   Without hesitation he decided to get our son circumcised. I asked him his reasoning and he said because he didn't want the possibility of our son having to end up getting a circumcision when he is older. I guess he knew a couple guys who had to get that done while they were in high school and it was a horrible experience for them. But ultimately the decision is up to you and your SO only, so don't let anyone talk you into or out of what you want for your child! Good Luck!

The foreskin is fuzed to the head of the penis, you're not supposed to be able to pull it back. I'm so sorry you got such terrible information, and circumcised your 3 year old. Most boys cannot pull it back until puberty, because that's the way the foreskin is MEANT to be.

I didn't circumcise my son. He's almost 4 now, without issues... Most of the intact men in the world DON'T have issues. Intact is the bodily norm.

Do your own research. Dont let others push you around or make you feel bad on the decision you make. I did with my son, I have no regrets. Its up to you.

I'm sorry that you got such poor info. It's totally normal for it to still be fused at 3.

I wouldn't do it. It's a LOT of unnecessary pain and can cause as many problems as it can prevent (small percent increase in chance of infections vs larger increase in chance of erectile dysfunction if you do circ.) There are tons of nerves and there is no local anesthetic safe for an infant that could numb that pain. It'd be like having an arm amputated with lidocaine.

We didn't Circumsise because you just don't Circumsise in the UK, it is not an option. Less than 5% of the UK male population are Circumsised and it is strictly done for medical reasons. Circumcision is not the norm in the rest of the developed western world and I don't even know why Americans do it to be honest   I've seen on here it is apparently recommended to you guys because of infections or std's...... No one else around the world is having all these "infections" apparently caused by being intact and America is one of the highest in the developed western world for std's so yes the advice to do it makes no sense to me   There is so much current medical advice advising against it out there because of the long term problems it can cause I don't even understand how it can be legal nevermind recommended
