Using serum with urine hpt

posted 8th Nov
Okay be prepared to open your mind before you read this!

I've only found a couple of results upon searching google but has anyone else tried it? I keep getting light positives with my urine and I kind of work in a setting where I have access to a lancet, microtube etc....

Just wondering if the idea has been thrown around here or if anyone has actually done it....I figured it should work considering all the HPT is looking for is HCG...and its obviously in your blood!

Um...wow. I've actually never thought about it. It depends on if the test is dependent on how it absorbs the urine though. I mean, if you're able to do it safely/licensed to mess with that equipment, it'd be an interesting experiment!

I'd be concerned that you wouldn't be able to read the test if it all turned pink/brown. Haha.

Well using the serum part, its clear

I think I'm going to give it a shot...
If you look in my previous topics I've been having faint positives and today after work I have an appointment to hopefully, cross fingers, to get a quant done.

I already poked my finger, letting it clot and than I'll spin it down. I'll be back with hopefully good news!

BAhahahaha, sorry, I'm not a phlebotomist by any means!

That's actually really cool that you're trying that. Be sure to let us know!

Spinning down in the centrifuge now!
Lets just hope today isnt one of those random days my boss decides to make a "surprise" visit.

I've been keeping all of the HPT trash in a grocery sack in a cabinet in my break room rofl.

Just put the serum in....its obviously slightly thicker than urine so I'm going to give it a little extra time to work through....

FYI, I'm using the New Choice ones from the $ store.

Took a picture with my phone and its making its way to my email so I can upload it!

FYI, if this is sticking and it doesnt turn out to be a chemical...I would be between 4 and 6 weeks.

Sorry I disappeared! I had a patient pop up

Here's the picture....

Faint positives like I've been getting. I was reading that I should wait 20 minutes but this picture is at 10 minutes.

Here's another view at the same time.

I'm going to attempt to do a "control" test with serum from a patient I am 100% sure is not PG LOL
