My Birth Story & A Lil More..

I had a wonderful birth experience this time around and I really think it was just about having the right one by my side. We went in to be induced at 5 in the morning on October 31st, I was rather nervous, but I did my best to stay as calm as I could possibly be. My honey was there by my side the entire time, I have never seen him so calm. They started the pitocin, it helped regulate and increase my contractions, but I just wasn't dialating. Oh I forgot to mention my nurse was somewhat new, I actually helped her a few times finding my baby's heartbeat which made me kind of uneasy... Anyways, my dr came in around 8, I was 2 1/2 cm still. D: I felt discouraged but my babe was there to help me through it. She decided to break my water at noon, so around 11 I was started on fluids so I could get the epi before she broke my water because I knew sometimes labor could pick up really fast after that. I got the epi. Five minutes later they broke my water. I could see on the monitor over the next few hours the contractions were getting stronger and longer and happening faster. My blood pressure dropped, so after awhile they gave me meds to help that... I fell asleep. I woke up a lil before 4 and I thought, too much pressure, I called my nurse, she checked. 7 cm. Another nurse came in to check. I was not 7, I was 10! I felt happy, scared, impatient. My honey held my hand, and when it was time, he held my leg. I thought there is no way my dr is going to get there on time. Thank goodness she did, I pushed for 20 minutes. Finally, Syniah Jolie Sierra was born on Halloween at 4:25 pm. 5lbs 8.2oz and 18in long. Perfect tiny baby ^_^ Never felt so much love in my life. I have felt absolutely no postpartum depression whatsoever. I am in love, engaged, and a mommy to two beautiful girls. Everything is perfect, except!!! The drug test came back positive for thc. I was so upset. They failed to tell us until we were just about leaving. We did a second test, came back negative... But they are still doing the cord blood test to make sure. We also will be dealing with CYFD until it gets cleared up. I havent smoked weed for over a year so I have nothing to worry about, I just wish we didnt have to go through this nonsense.

If you ate poppyseed i think it is that can actually show up + for THC.

OP my friend tested positive for thc and she took a class i think and paid a fine and everytthing went to normal.. Man im glad ive never been drug tested during labor.. Didnt you ahve to sign a paper agreeing to it?

Also if you havent smoked in a year how can the test have been positive? Im confused

They ask if they can test your urine, if you refuse they test your baby. I agreed because there would be no reason for anything to come back positive. Honestly I have no clue why it would come back positive. I talked all sorts of ppl at the dr trying to get it cleared up and they said sometime there are false positives, still gotta test the cord blood. It's a awful feeling tho even if I know I have done nothing wrong

Diabetes can cause a false positive? I have had type 1 diabetes sense I was 14 years old and I have worked as a cna for over 5 years and have never run into this issue when screened for a job. Not being mean but I have never heard of this happening from any endocrinologist, doctor or fellow diabetic ever so I am not sure that is right.

I wouldnt worry to much then.. If the second test was negative.. :/ good luck though!

Hm odd...my best friend smoked in her pregnancy up until 4 months before he was born. Drug test came up negative.

I'm not too worried, I know the cord blood test will come back fine, it just sucks having to deal with CYFD until then.

Well that's lucky for her, in my opinion I think weed could harm the baby so I wouldn't take that risk.

i was never ever drug tested and thats a good thing,im thankful for that!
