Why does he throw up

When I give DS a solid and he doesnt like he he kinda gags a little then vomits. He vomits so much that milk comes up. For instance he doesnt like whole peas but will eat them if I make them puree'd. So when he puts a pea in his mouth and he doesnt like it he just sits there with hios mouth open then he gags a little then vomits. Does every kid do this....its kinda nerve wrecking =/

how old is he? he may not be ready for it yet

Hes 9 months (will be 10 months next sunday). He eats whole broccoli and carrots and crackers and stuff but when he eats certain foods he vomits. I tried jarred baby food last night it was squash and it was puree'd and he did the same thing.

I always thought it was because he flexed his stomach so hard gagging or trying to spit it out that he vomits.

Some children are not ready for solids until they are closer to 12 months. Although, I think it is more common for breastfeeding woman to wait that long(not sure if you are). I am not quite as knowledgeable on formula feeding though but I know that I have heard many moms say "It's fine to breastfeed until a year and hold off on solids. Breast milk is all they need" Not sure if this applies to formula fed babies or not though but yeah, I always hear some children just take longer until they are ready to eat solids. Maybe hold off for a while and see how your babe does growth wise? :]

He was EBF for 6 months. Like I said earlier he only does that to food he doesnt like. He does fine with everything else.

He also is fine growth wise lol. very big boy he is in the 100th percentil for everything

Hmm, actually if I recall my aunt said my cousin did that when he didn't like food.

I guess so. its kind of annoying because I freak out everytime to get the same results.
