Head lice

posted 7th Nov
I found out a couple of weeks ago my 2 1/2 year old was exposed, checked his head a few times between then and now. Tonight I found a live bug and a ton of what I think are eggs. I've been researching a lot about this, and I'm not sure which course of treatment we should take. I'm considering shaving his head but I'll still have to treat myself anyway. My 1 yr old daughter doesn't seem to have any bugs or nits. I'm not sure about my husband. Any advice??

Buy Rid, treat the entire family and home. ( You can find directions for sanitizing your linens, stuffed animals, etc on Google). You will need to retreat in approximately 10 days.

In addition to Rid shampoo you have to get rid of nits which require combing everyday. My opinion? Shave his head, invest in a warm hat until it grows back. Treat all the heads in your house and your home as per usual. Continue to comb after the second treatment so you can monitor.

Buy tea tree oil, which you can get at Target and put a few drops in your daily shampoo. It's supposed to aid in fighting them off.

My daughter had it twice this year. Good luck. You may want to limit exposure to the person/place he was exposed until you confirm they also treated the situations properly.

I've already stepped beds, washing bedding now, bagged up all stuffed animals, and all that jazz. I'm definitely buying the spray for the bedding. I just wasn't sure what I should use or if I should just shave his head, which is what my mom said.

Both. Just in case. If you have it , it could be weeks before you have symptoms and then everyone can be reinfested again.

The babysitter says they've been battling it for a couple of months, and even offered to foot the bill, but I told her I didn't expect her to do that,

I always put babyoil in their heads and tie a plastic bag around their hair and make sure it's not to where it can fall in their face. It suffocates the bugs so in the morning you can just slide the bugs and knits out. Also, RID bedding spray and tie all clothes and bedding that has been exposed to it in a plastic bag to suffocate the bugs if they got on there for about 8 hours and then wash in hot water. Tea tree oil is a natural repellent so you can put a drop into a hole bottle of shampoo and wash the hair daily to prevent the bugs from getting back in it.
