I'm 18. I'm not a piece of smurf, i'm a nursing student, full time job, & my own home;; so if you're just going to judge me on my age & assume i'm naive don't even bother. I've been the father of my unborn child for 3 years but lately since he found out I was pregnant which is usual i suppose he's been getting distant. He always comes up with excuses to never spend time with & doesn't seem near as excited for the baby as I am. I don't want to be another pathetic mother with a babydaddy, nor do i want to whine & cry about it. But it's nice just to hear people opinions, people who have already been through this. Like i said i'm not naive & I will be a good mother; i know i can do it on my own; but of course like any good mother I want my child to have a whole family. We live together, so should i wait it out & see how he is acting in a couple months(maybe he''s just still in shock, this was an unplanned pregnancy) or should i just get my own place & mentally prepare myself to be single mother. Either way i know my child will have everything it needs & more, but should i stay or should i go? Ugh i feel like this post sounds so cliche & people will automatically judge me, but please understand i'm not the typical case of teenage pregnancy with baby mama drama, i just need wise advice.

Why would you need to get your own place if you own a home? Just wondering.

ps how do you own a home at 18? Im 25 and am not even close

My husband (who was my boyfriend when I was pregnant) had a difficult time adjusting to the fact that he was gonna be a dad. Once she was born he definitely stepped up.

Give him a minute. Regardless of how "atypical" you think your situation is, becoming parents that young takes some adjustment. It's scary as crap.

Wait it out. He may be going "omg my life is so over". Some guys come around
And if you feel like people are going to judge you, just don't repeat your age and "dont judge me" so much. Age isn't necessary, really. You're a capable adult now, right? No worries!
