Calling In Sick @ Work
posted 29th May
I'm 6 weeks pregnant and the past 2 weeks have been really rough!!! I've had to call in sick twice in the past 2 weeks~~Could it be because I work around food alll day? It makes me sick to look @the food! Has anyone else been really sick lately & had to call into work & say you can't come in? Or am I the only wiener out there?

i can't say about the calling in part... but when i was in my first and part of my second trimester, i couldn't even walk into a resturaunt without gagging!

i called in A LOT during my first three months...but my first trimester was during cold and flu season...and i had both many, many times during the season...so that's why I called all the time. I couldn't take anything for it, and being sick on top of morning sickness....I was miserable. Anytime I did go to work, I ended up throwing up anyway and they sent me home.

Lol, I wouldn't call you a weiner!
I didnt have to call in sick for work, but I have the pleasure of working afternoons 2-10. If I had a day shift I would have been calling in ALL the time. I just can't handle mornings and with my morning sickness it would have made things difficult

LOL.... problem understood. I'm a RGM for Burger King, and the first 2 months were pure hell. I called in sick once or twice, and was sent home sick one day. The food thing will get easier. Try eating some crackers when you first wake up, drinking ginger ale. Find things that seem to settle your stomach, but always make sure you are eating. An empty stomach is even worse.

With my first pregnancy I worked at Burger King , I called in at least once a week . The smell of that food would just make me so sick .... to this day I still cant eat there . But with this pregnancy , I am an office manager .... so all I do is sit all day .

I was laid off my job when I found out I was prego...so they got to pay me unemployment for 6 months, got me thur the m/s times. I know if I was working I would have called in all the time! lol things worked out for me tho, unemployment was nice. Then I got hired at a job 6-7 months pregnant and worked until my due date...worked out well. But yea, food would def. play a part!

I don't even want to imagine what that would feel like with all the smells. I could smell anything with my sudden super sense of smell and strong smells would set off the gagging. I couldn't call in because I had to make sure I didnt miss more than five days. I would go into work and stay for about a hour and leave. I wouldn't even tell my supervisor because there were times I was extremely sick and I would call her asking to leave and she would tell me no because the other schools were short staffed. Make sure you let them know you are pregnant before they end up firing you.

i was a supervisor, and felt like I needed to be a good role model for the other employees so I didn't call in at all during my pregnancy...
BUT I didn't work with food, THere would be no way I could have during the first trimester, I was constantly throwing up.. ((Even at work))

I'm glad to know there are other people out there that have had to call in too!! I thought I was making myself feel worse at first because I didn't tell anyone at work yet. I have since told them & I am the boss so..there is nothing they can really say about it! Or my fiance goes in for me~~If he's off!! I work @ Tim Hortons! Imagine how bad that coffee must smell!! And all the cleaning stuff!! I have to go outside when they do the floors.
