Trying is a really good sign. Normal walking occurs between 7 and 18 mths.

seriously don't stress ... my 19 month old has only just started standing unassisted and can take a very few shaky steps without holding onto anything.

What do her dr's say? Dose she have any conditions that might cause this? Does she do the standing along a table and scooting along furniture thing

Maybe you need to just step back a little. Maybe all this pushing her to do it is what is scaring her away from it. Don't let it be a bad experience.

Have you spoken to a doctor about it?
I would just stop pushing her to do it, and see if she just starts exploring that ability on her own.

It can take some a long time to start. If I were you though, just as a precaution I would take her to a pediatric eye doctor and have them check her vision. Vision deficits aren;t always obvious, but when your brain can't trust the input it makes you more cautious.

Yes, this!
My youngest is 14 months and she just wasn't on the same track our oldest was at that point (she started walking when she was 14 months). So, we got really into helping her stand on her own and walk her around the house and stuff. She started HATING it. So, we stopped and now she's standing up by herself without pulling up on anything. I'll bet she's walking before Christmas which would be awesome!

DS will be 15 months and he's just started taking a step or two letting go of the table. I was constantly trying to get him to walk..I backed off a little and he's getting there.

If shes been cleared by her pedi that she's fine...Just give it some time it could take longer.

DD was 15.5 months when she started walking. If your trying to get her walk it will likely do the opposite

WOW I guess I am a little under educated about this. Sorry I gave you such a worried post about it. looks like all the other Moms say it is all normal. I only have on baby who started walking early so I thought that was when they all started

You are not alone OP, I have a 17, almost 18 month old daughter who is still not walking. She honestly didn't start really pulling herself up until about 3 months ago. She has no signs of cerebral palsy or any low muscle tone, she cruises furniture like a boss, but won't stand up by herself quite yet.

All I can say is that your LO will get there. I had to learn to not force my daughter to do it because she used to go to PT for other things [torticollis, delayed in some things like tummy time, holding her head up, etc] and all she would do is cry and cry and they would hold her down and make her do it, which would only make her hyperventilate. Good luck! Just try and stay optimistic!
