posted 7th Nov
so I have been wanting to enroll in school since I graduated and haven't done so I went in February to talk to Pima medical institute about their veterinary assistance program and never went back because it turned into a big fight with my husband. Today I scheduled an appointment to get enrolled and start on the 26th of this month I text him n told him he in turn ignored me all day till he got home and it turned into another big fight yet again I don't understand why he doesn't want me to go to school and he wont give me a damn reason either but I am tired of not going forward in life I want to better myself for my kids and my self but he wants nothing to do with it and is throwing a huge fit about it saying well I hope you can figure out how to get yourself to school and how your going to pay it by yourself what ever I am so over the bullsmurf with him I swear! end vent!

Thank you. I am not going to allow him to stop me this time. I need to be an example to my kids that if I can do it with a 2 year old and 2 month old they have no excuse in the world that they cant. plus you never know what the future has in store it'll be good to have something to fall back on

I'm in college with an almost two month old and let me tell you it's tough (can't imagine with a 2 year old too!)

I told SO college was first in my life (after my daughter) and he knows I'd flip the F out if he tried to stop me.

But I got lucky and have my parents to back me up when it comes to college.

I went to PIMA in Colorado Springs for the same degree and it was TERRIBLE. While the schooling itself was okay, when we got to externship we already had judgements set against us because of PIMA.
One of the girls training me at a Vet Clinic kept saying "Oh wow! You KNOW how to do this?!" Like.. filling a syringe, and when I finally asked why she kept doing that she said "Well.. PIMA..."
I really hope it's not the same out there for you. I hope that section of PIMA is a lot better and you're not stereotyped on your externship D:

As for your husband.. what's his deal? Sounds pretty childish to me :/

Is he controlling at all?

Only reason I ask is because I had a friend who's boyfriend didn't want her to do like anything that would make her be able to do better without him. She had an okay job, but depended on him for a lot of things. So when she went to enroll in nursing school, he freaked. He acted the same way that your SO did. Maybe he just doesn't want you to be independent? Idk just a possiblity, I suppose.

in a way yes he knows I depend on him a lot because I am a stay at home mom and I have no source of income

Apply at vet offices. It was my first job out of high school and I hated every minute of it. I ended up doing retail at a local pet store and loved that more. Now I have a certificate in veterinary technology and canine nutrition.
