It could be that you irratated it during the night. Maybe it got snagged. Is there any funny puss oozing out?

Is it warm to the touch? I would think its infected and would get it checked out especially if its hot or warm to the touch

It's not oozing anything or warm to the touch. It's my cartilage and the whole top part of my ear is just red and sore. Maybe I did just snag it while I was sleeping or something.

If my fresh piercings did that, I took them out and cleaned the hole with peroxide or alcohol and cleaned the jewelery as well, then reinserted the jewelery. Worked like a charm.
Only once did I go to a doctor to get one checked. He said it had looked like it was infected, but because I did what I did, the infection was going away. He said to use Neosporin cream (not the Vaseline like stuff) and that should help too.
Which it did kind of.. but just cleaning them with warm water worked better lol

I've always cleaned my piercings with antibacterial soap in the shower and throughout the day I would spray with H2 ocean a few times a day.
