have one question what about people that can't work at all like me i can't find a job the i can work without coming home and being in my bed for 3 days cause i can't move cause my back is hurting to back and i'm tired of taken pain medication cause i have became addicted to most of it or it just don't work and with me having a messed up liver cause stupid doctors didn't know what to look for when i was coming in all the time with pain and couldn't keep anything down cause of my stupid gall bladder (that was messed up since i was 18 and just got it out when june 20, 2011 and didn't find out about it till i was pregnant with riley) they just kept telling me it was all in my head

At home call center work. If you can be on the computer and talk on the phone, you can do it.

see that is how i think yes i get WIC and yes for a couple months we are going to have to get help from the goverment like foodstamps and health ins. but we are only going to do it for a couple months yeah we might keep the health ins cause that will help out alot

that is the problem we don't have a phone (we use google voice and our internet is slow as smurf if we have more then one thing open )

I'm sorry here disability allowance is part of Medicare (I believe) which is part of our health care system and therefore I don't really view as welfare. However our disability allowance here is minimal, as in if you have it as your sole income and aren't in government housing or living with family you're screwed. Basically if you don't have comp or an insurance pay-out you can barely live of disability.
I used to work with people with high level spinal injuries (think Christopher Reeve) who studied and worked. In the centre I worked at after paying rent our residents would have roughly $40 a week left over to live off if not working as well.

Where I work do this ... we even provide all computer equipment and super fast internet connection (we do IT tech support) for free. You're required to come in once a month to the office for a team meeting and that's it

That's awesome! I wouldn't mind welfare as much if people actually had to do something to get it.

For the other poster, how are you able to physically care for three kids if you are in too much pain for even a desk job?

This is going to sound bad coming from me, a liberal and pro-mind your own business on how other people live.......but if one is in too much pain to do anything, anything at all whatsoever, wouldn't there be to much pain to have sex, become pregnant, give birth, and raise kids?

Ive worked with ventilated quadriplegics who work and study ... I honestly dont see disability as an excuse

Yeah, to me the only excuse to not work is if you are a vegetable or are literally brain dead. Everyone else can do some type of job.

haven't you ever heard of getting help from other people and i was told i couldn't have kid at all so we thought that was true and i ended up pregnant with riley
yes i have tried to work every kind of job out there and i'm sorry because i got hit by a drunk driver when i was 17 on the way home for school and fractured my back and i am in pain almost everyday and instead of me being addicted to pain medication to control the pain i have decided not to take it and i use heating pads, showers, chiropractors, and just relaxing (cause i can't really take to much medications because of my liver) i have been told by a couple doctors that they are shocked that i'm not in a wheel chair cause how messed up my back is but there isn't enough proof that i can get dissablity
i'm don't try to make excuses but i'm trying to show you that some people smurf happens and they are in pain and can't do anything and sometimes days that my back is killing me riley will just come and lay with me in my bed and have a movie day with mommy
When i have all 3 kids my husband is home to help me

i was on bedrest during most of it and in and out of the hospital with gall bladder issues
