food to have at a wedding? *poll*

posted 7th Nov
Poll question: What would be your favorite entree at a wedding? I think we will be having 2.
I am going to be picking the menu for my wedding in a few weeks and I wanted to get a few ideas. What are some of your favorite foods to have at a wedding? (preferably ones that can be done without or with minimal garlic and onion due to allergies)
Any foods that you see at wedding often and think why do people serve this??

Thanks!

Steak is my favorite, but the problem is everyone likes their steak cooked differently and having it at a wedding is setting them up for failure.

Chicken.

I'm picky about my steak... and they would all be cooked well-done, to accommodate for the masses. Chicken is cooked the same no matter what. So it's not hard to mess up

And not everyone likes seafood... and some could be allergic to it.

Ah, I forgot that one. We are doing a destination wedding with 50 people coming (all my family members) so I know nobody vegetarian but I should have thought of that!

If you're going for 2, I'd do Chicken and Steak because there's a lot of Seafood allergies. Maybe a Shrimp Cocktail or something would be nice though. Also, you should have plenty of vegetable dishes for people who don't eat meat.

!!!!! I learned that the hard way. We had a simple pig roast (small budget) not knowing my uncle and his new wife are vegetarians (it's a new thing for my uncle) and even though my grandma offered to bring veggie burgers for them they almost didnt come since we were offering pig. I know this is extreme but it made me realize we should have had an alternative.

Its buffet style so I think a shrimp cocktail or something would be great.
