Lol and nobody thinks she is black anyway. Remember my poll? She looks Hispanic or Filipino lol

I of course teach my children to be proud of who they are, biracial people but I'm not naive. I know how the world sees them. I'd be doing them a disservice to pretend that the world won't see them as black men. Black men experience certain things in life, they need to be prepared for that.

Yeah....no. I'm not going to call myself "Irish-German-French-Navajo-Cheyenne-Dutch-Mexican". "White" works fine.

He acknowledges his mother ALL the time. All the time. It's not about race. You don't need to announce what you're mixed with every 5 minutes in order to be proud.

No, you need to go down the list because if you don't then you're not proud.

Yes I do agree she needs to be prepared and I do plan on having more kids one day hopefully a boy. I just don't want her to identify with what society sees her as. She needs to.identify with reality in that she is mixed. Mixed kids face their own set of problems that black and white people don't face. I plan to teach her about all the races in her blood and hopefully she will be proud of them all and identify as an individual and not as one race. I also hope things get better when she is older. There are so many mixed kids now.

I have never seen this mixed race oppression that people talk about.

So mixed people are brown then not black. But if you don't claim your heritage that's on you. You can't expect someone else to not want to. And if someone does identify with them all then it is not your place to call them black or white or whatever.

My kids will be very proud of their heritage but I don't want them to be blindsided when the white lady clutches her purse tightly as they walk by. Or when the white girls daddy pulls a shotgun in them and calls them a smurf, Kwim.

I don't mean every 5 minutes lol but most people are proud of who they are and where they come from. Kwim. Its less about obama but how others perceive obama.

And white people are pink, what's your point

I embrace my heritage fine, thanks. I just don't need to go around reminding everyone of my genetic makeup to feel connected to my ancestors. And I'm not going to cater to anyone else by calling them their 8 most prominent roots. That's completely ridiculous.
