Maybe he SHOULD be on medication. Has he been checked out for bipolar disorder?

Is he taking any diet pills or anything? Sometimes those can totally change your mood. I do have to agree with what he was saying, though (not how he handled the situation). You can't just put your kids somewhere else every time you eat a little something... just tell them no.

He thinks he has borderline personality. I read about it and every trait really does describe him. But his mom is bipolar.

I agree that on a level he is right but he's so damn unreasonable and outrageous in his reactions...and no he's not taking anything for sure.

Then he really needs to go see a doctor about that. He shouldn't be freaking out like that around the kids or you, especially to his dd that's potty training!

Any number of things could cause this..
Maybe he has an underlying medical condition
My step dad went nuts one day and accused my mom of cheating on him he quit his job he fought with her constantly he drove her to having panic attacks
Then one day it stopped.
He won't go to a doctor no one knows what happened I know my mother didnt cheat on him he just flipped a switch then flipped it back.

It sounds like he needs to learn how to be proactive verses reactive. Maybe, if he thinks he has a personality disorder, he would agree to go talk to someone about his anger and the way he communicates?

I actually have noticed that guys do this.. All of a sudden a "time in their life" they will switch for weeks or months and then switch back. When you ask them about it they tell you they don't know why.

BD has done it to me. His explanation is he doesn't know why he thinks it's just a phase and he was just being a dick.

ETA - although his has admitted to anger issues so I do think it may be something to do with personality.

That's scary... he could flip a switch again at any given point if he doesn't deal with that!

He used to drink energy drinks every day ..now it's like once in a blue moon, the last time he had one was yesterday...the time before that was a few months ago. I wonder what happened w/your step dad. How has he been since?
