Sleeping in my room

How long is too long for a baby to sleep in our room? I want him to grow some independance and I don't want to become to attached as well.

i'm planning on moving my baby from his bassinet in our room to his crib when he's three months old. Hopefully everything goes as planned

I just felt so mean making Katelyn sleep in her own room, so I kept her in mine until she was 8 months. First in her bassinet and then in her pack n play. At 8 months, my husband finally made me put her in her crib and she made the switch with no problems, and she has slept in her own room ever since. So when ever feels right for you! She probably could have been in her own room much sooner, I was the one with the attachment problem, lol!

Elliot slept w/us until he was 21 months. I have a feeling Piper will too. I wanted to move her about 4 months but, she's just so cuddly. She's our last so, We want to get all the baby cuddles we can

I co-slept until Emma was 3 months old. Then I gradually made the switch to her own bed. She wasn't completely by herself until about 8 or 9 months. Now she won't sleep if she's in the bed with me and my boyfriend.

We kept both Dylan and Chloe in our room until they started sleeping through the night( roughly 2 1/2 months). With Kendra I'm not sure but I think it might be a bit longer seeing as she and Chloe will be sharing a room.

I say keep them in your room as long as you want. Especially if you are going to breastfeed. If you get to a place where it's comfortable for you to do in your bed too. I was never able to master that skill however. My mother in law kept her 7 babies in her room for probably a year -2 years of age. All of her kids are very independent and fine. But ultimimatly, do what your comfortable with. With my first kid, she slept in our bed Maybe the first month...Our bassinett wasn't very comfortable...(they didn't have those things you can put inside them now to make them more cozy) so we just laid her on a pillow in between us, but I was never comfortable with that because I would wake up in the middle of the night and the covers would be almost to her face. We moved our daughter to her swing around 2-3mths because she had awful colic and it was the only way she would sleep.

ayden slept with me until he was about 2 weeks old. i used to sit in the recliner and hold him all night. i think he slept in my bed 5 times but that was it. he hasnt always been in his crib though. he went through his crib, then between a playpen and a swing. then we moved to germany (army) and he slept in his carseat until our stuff got shipped. now he sleeps in his crib every night and he naps in his swing. i almost let him sleep with us lastnight because hes teething and couldnt sleep. but i was worried my husband wouldnt notice him. so i took him in the bed and let him lay on my chest til he was asleep then he slept all night in his crib. we just got back from vacation and he was sleeping in a playpen, he didnt like it, hes only 9 months but he KNEW it wasnt his crib. we put him down for a nap in his crib when we got home and he was so thrilled. so what i was saying is my sons almost always slept by himself but to each his own. i stopped sleeping with him because someone reported me and he almost got taken away for that. ( BS i know)
