Shoot me. (TMI)

So I have a yeast infection. It was fine all day and at night it would be so itchy and painful. So today I got like, Monistat 1 day except the generic CVS brand. Well, I used it this morning and now my symptoms are so much WORSE. Like I want to rip my vagina off.
I know it takes a couple days to get better but is it supposed to get worse and then better? Or should I do something else? I really don't want to spend another $20 on vag cream so do any of you ladies have any tried-and-true remedies?

Someone mentioned taking a bath with white vinegar and opening everything up. It's supposed to take the irritation away.
