Implanon. I don't have it, so I'm not exactly sure about many details, but I know it does have hormones and from the videos I watched on youtube of people having it put it, it looks painful as hell! I thought about getting it, til I seen the videos.

Implanon, lasts 3 years, progesterone only (so suitable for BF mommas too).
I have had it before, they numb the area then put it in, it doesn't hurt going in our out although the area is a bit sore, kinda like someones punched you and you have a bit of a dead arm for a day or two after.
Some women get periods, some don't!

It is now upgraded to Nexplanon the new version so that it can be more easily detected on X-ray.

What is that called ?
Nexplanon

how effictive is it ?
99.9%-- as effective as an IUD

Does it hurt ?
No it was the numbing shot that hurt the worst both on insertion and coming out.
I just had a small bruise which went away within a week.

does it have hormones?
Yes.

do you have a period on it ?
Yes. My NP told me that 1/3 get a regular period. 1/3 get irregular periods and 1/3 get no period.
I Had a "regular" period that lasted for one month with 3 months in between.

Implanon. It is THE most effective non-permanent birth control. I've had mine in for 3 years and we don't use any backup at all, not even pull out lol. It does have hormones (progestin only). The first six months have irregular bleeding, but after that I got almost no periods at all. It didn't hurt to have it put in, they give you a little lidocain shot. It bruised though, and was sore for a few days. I'm getting mine out tomorrow, so I'll let you know if it hurts lol

I had the norplant (basically the same thing) and I had no problems with it. They give you a numbing shot so it doesn't hurt going in. I had regular periods

Honestly it doesn't hurt at all, I was scared to get it taken out after watching the video's but that wasn't bad either.

Yeah, it looks very painful! That or nuva ring were my main choices after I had DD. I watched the videos about implanon and changed my mind of that one, then a friend of mine found out she was pregnant while using nuva ring....so I got paragard.
