worrying... I don't want another angel

Okay so today I switched my OB because my last two apt were an cancelled and I didn't like the care I was getting. I have got the run around trying to switch and so I finally switch and i am very happy. I haven't had an ultrasound since sept. 14th when I was eight weeks now I will be sixteen weeks on friday. I really would like to get one to check up on my baby and get a good look to make sure my baby is in good shape. I have an angel baby so this is a huge problem for me "WORRYING" that is. The new OB said itll be two more weeks until I get one but I am going crazy because I have only had two appointments and one ultra sound this whole pregnancy!!!

Have you considered doing en elective to ease your mind?

I know it doesn't make you feel better, but generally most insurance only covers 2 ultrasounds unless there is a problem.

Take a deep breath and calm down.

There are a lot of OB's who only do 1-2 ultrasounds for an entire pregnancy.

I had the same issue when I was pregnant with my now 3 year old. I wanted her treated as a high risk until I hit the 20 week mark.

Is there a reason your doctor said it will be at least 2 weeks ? I mean is the ultrasound tech booked until then ?

Go to an ultrasound location and pay for it yourself. Is what she means.

I have seriously thought about waiting in the emergency room to see if they will look for me. I just am scared so I am stressing. Stress is terrible too though...

Do they check with a Doppler.

I get a Doppler check every appt to hear the heart beat. But yes you can pay for a scan

You can go and pay for one like I said.
Don't go to the ER where there are real emergencies.

They may not even do an ultra sound. S that be waiting everyone's time.

They said they want to wait to get to as close to 19 to 20 weeks so that they can get a more accurate look at the baby. Which I understand completely I do. I never knew you could go some where and pay to get an ultra sound done. I thought your doctor was the one to schedule it.

Don't go to the ER.

You can rent dopplers online, or buy them (appx. $50). That eased my mind a TON before I could feel baby moving.

Or you could go to a 3D/4D ultrasound place and do an elective. You can get them as cheap as $60-80 for a 2D gender scan.

My brain isn't working properly.

In all fairness, I am use to small town OB's vs. big city. My daughter was treated as a high risk, until my 20 week mark, so around the time the kidneys should be functioning, I requested an ultra sound to check on them.

Then my youngest, I had a low lying placenta, so I had an ultra sound at almost every appointment to check the progress of it until it moved higher.
