It's a relatively quick process, especially after they break your water. Once they broke my water, I went from 7 cm to 10 in a half hour and started pushing my son out.

I know you're scared of the unknown - that's completely natura and I was just as scared too - but once you're in labor, you won't even think about it because all you will want to do is meet your little angel - after all, you're been waiting for this baby your entire life, right?

Good luck with everything and PM me if you ever need to.

There is no time limit when it comes to being induced. Just so long as you and the baby are doing well and progress fine who knows how long it could take. Just depends on how ready your body is. I would just go with an open mind - positive but open mind. Good luck! Can't wait to read your birthstory!

The process is different for everyone and diff. for every time you may ever be induced. I was induced with all 4. The first, four weeks early due to Hypertension.

For all of mine (although I've heard that others started differently) -- They broke my water first and made me walk the halls for a couple of hours to see if "things would get going on their own". When that didn't work, they hooked me up to the drip. Contractions were every 2 to 3 minutes.

For the last three (overdue, just didn't go into labour on my own) it was much quicker than the first, depending on how effaced and dilated I was going in.

Everyone is different but as for my experience it was my smoothest most enjoyable delivery out of all my dds (maybe because she was the only epidural) I played UNO till they dropped the bottom of my bed. The pitocin did its thing and I watched the monitor tell me I was having a contraction but I couldn't feel it...Congratulations btw...how exciting...inductions are nice since you "know" when you are goin to have baby and everythign is packed and ready to go

That "breaking water" thing never worked with me ... and it makes your labour harder (apparently). I'd have loved to have waited until I was 7 cm before they broke it! (I think each hospital/doctor has their own protocol)

Its harder, b/c you lose your cushion. It just feel the contractions more, which happens in natural labor as well. Contractions hurt, even more so when your water breaks. That has nothing to do with induction, just part of child birth. I got my water broken at 3cm.

They do it differently depending on whether you are dialated or effaced when you go in. I was induced on my due date, because I wasn't dilated or effaced at all. They gave me cervidil, this gel stuff, to get me started dilating and then started pitocin about 12 hours later. I got my epi as soon as they started the pitocin, so I never felt a contraction and I then I got to sleep! They actually woke me up to tell me it was time to push. My water broke on it's own during my epi. Don't be scared! Good luck!

Good luck! I was just inducedlast monthwith my third son and it went fine. It took 24 hours from start to finish (started Cervadil at 12:15 pm Sunday & he wasborn at 12:22 pm Monday), but that was mainly because no one wanted to break my water! Once my dr got there on Monday at 11:00 am and broke my water, I went from 3 cm to pushinghim out in about an hour. I was only dilated to 1 cm when they started it all (my bp was high & babie's heart rate was too high) so that slowed things down as well...it took longerto get going.

Keep an open mind and try to roll with the punches...labor is different for everyone!

I didn't know it made it harder - they broke mine because my son was losing oxygen and they had to speed things up.
