Sick and school

posted 7th Nov
Ok so if your child was always trying to get out of school by pertending to be sick all the time and you could tell when they were lying, would you keep them home or send them to school.?

Ok so if you sent them to school and the school called a few hours later and said that your child was complaining that they were sick and wanted you too pick them up ASAP. Would you?

Would you tell the school that they were lying and just trying to get out of school, or would you fear that the school would look bad at you for not picking them up, so you would pick them up knowing they were lying?

A conversation I had with a friend, who was getting smurffed on by her MIL for picking her daughter up knowing that she was lying, cause she didnt want the school to think she was a bad mom.

MIL said that she was going to call the school and tell them that her Grandaughter was lying and just wanted to stay home. My opinon is that MIL needs to mind her own buisness but never does. And is way too envolved in their personal lives. lol

But with that said, if it were my child I wouldnt have picked her up, because she just wanted to be home to watch tv and play games instead of being at school. If the school thought I was a bad mom so beit. I dont care. lol

If I thought my child was lying, I'd pick them up... but not let them watch TV and play games.

I didn't think the school called unless there was a fever or apparent illness.

Depends on how often this happens. My mother sent me to school no matter what. One year I had the flu and my mother refused to come get me so the school called my brother and he came from PA to pick me up. That's a little extreme. I see nothing wrong with a day off here and there.

School never called my mom unless I had a fever. I had an ear infection one time that lasted way too long because I kept telling the school my ear hurt and before checking my ear they checked to see if I had a fever and I didn't.

I would only pick up my kids if they had a fever or threw up. That's how it was for me growing up lol

It has nothing to do with that, at all, a very smart kid with more then enough friends, and is always quick to tell anyone if any kid has been mean to her, lol Its something that she likes to do, just stay home so she can play with toys.

Gotcha. Is she maybe not stimulated enough at school?

That is what my parents did to me. I had to stay in my room so I wouldn't get anyone else sick, I couldn't even eat supper with family. No TV, just bed and books all day. I never did it again.

Often, last year she missed over 80 days of school for pretending to be sick. Her mom complained that as soon as dad was gone with the car she would start running around and playing and wanting to eat junk all day.

Her mom has to be way more strict with her. No toys, no junk food, no running around. Otherwise she's fine enough to go to school.

Oh no she is, lol last year she went to a part french school and this yr changed to a full french school and was a little behind (was not used to speaking it all day) lol

Its the fact that she just does not like school, and only child who is used to gettingher own way, and teachers prevent kids getting their own way lol kwim?
