Anything can be normal with Depo. But, the weight is not Depo related. It may make you gain weight, but if you read the fine print, it's something like 1 pound over 3 months. So if you gained/lost while on it, that was all you.

I was always told you're not supposed to be on it for more than 2 years unless no other ones work for you.

I was on it for 4 years...no period...got off of it and 5 months after my last shot I had my period for a whole month! Took me a year to get back on schedule. Ick I'll never do that again

my doctor has told me that you could gain or lose due to depo. She said due to the extra progesterone hormone given to you that it makes your metabolism slow down!

and i wasn't asking that, i was asking if anybody experience the heavy flow and was this normal?

I answered your question first. Anything can be normal on Depo.

And no, that's not how it works. The manufacturers disagree with what your Doctor said.

Not me, the people who MADE the drug. Besides, I wouldn't trust a Doctor who kept me on the shot for so long. Or one who didn't inform me it causes calcium depletion before administering it. But hey, your bones, your body. Just a heads up though, might want to think about getting a calcium supplement.

I have looked it up. alllll over the internet it says you can gain weight because of the hormone even on the depo site its self. when i pick up the prescribtion it says on the lable. may cause weight gain....
back in the days it did say that but this is 2012 & they have been doing new studies on it... & MY doctor i see now didn't keep me on this for so long i didn't start seeing them till after i got pregnant with my first. I went somewhere different for the first 5 years. then started seeing my regular obgyn afterwards. which is the best in my town thank you. & who said i said that they didn't tell me about calcium????

You can't be on it for more than 2 years because of the calcium and you said a few posts up that nobody had ever told you that.

I didn't say anything about calcium, I have been told about that & i get enough calcium in one day to make up for it. I have not been told 2 years, I have been told 4. Nobody needs to explain every detail of their life on here damn!
I am done explaining my life to you....
We can battle all day about a damn depo shot.
I want on it, its my favorite form of birth control. I have no complaints over weight gain or lost. I was just giving a description of what happen to see if it happen to anyone else. I don't know why you are fighting this with me.. Look it up & post it as your own topic because i frankly don't care.
I am happy with my life && I am gonna be the mature one & walk away from this...
Have a nice day...

AS FOR THE REST OF YOU.... thank you for having a positive input/opinion & not trying to be my doctor.
