feel like such a failure

posted 7th Nov
My SO used to work a rather high paying job but was in a really unhealthy (abusive) work situation that eventually came to a head and he got fired. Due to the small industry he was working in he was unable to get a similar job as everyone knew his boss who is a notorious smurf.
Well it took him five months to get another job and when it did it was for nearly $1000 a fortnight less than what he previously earned so I went and got a full time job as well. In that five months we went through our savings and then wracked up quite a bit of debt ... its been nearly three months now that we've both been working and every week that I feel that we'll be back on our feet something happens that knocks us back down.
I just can't seem to get ahead and the immediate forecast doesn't look fantastic ... I feel like such a failure and I don't know how to deal with it.
We manage to pay the important things like the mortgage, car loan and daycare on time ... but we're having to get extensions on everything else as soon as they come in and so it seems that as soon as they've been paid there's another bill in the mail.
I just feel like we've let everyone down and I hate myself right now.

Sorry that you're going through a hard time. It happens to us all and hopefully you can get through it.

I know how you feel. Between a car accident and medical/insurance bills on top of the obvious bills and credit card bills. . . It's exhausting to keep them straight. Now that I have to go on maternity leave early my husband is the only one bringing in money and I feel like I am leaving him to deal with it all. But I just remember that if I can grow a human and push him out of a small hole, I can get through this, it'll be hard but no one else can do it for me and I'm not alone. :-)

I just can't seem to get ahead ... I worked a 94 hour fortnight last fortnight and only have $300 to roll over into the next pay to put towards the mortgage. This fortnight I've been sick four days and I had put down for overtime on top of all those days. If my boss doesn't let me do overtime for the rest of the week (well until next wednesday) then we're stuffed. I think he will since he knows my situation and we're DESPERATE at work for staff and overtime.
