Controversial Parenting. WYO?

posted 7th Nov
This is a "tag" going around YouTube but I thought I would bring it to BG cause I wanted to get in on it and I don't want to make a YouTube account. Feel free to copy and paste and make your own or do it in the comments!

1. Pro-life vs. Pro-choice: I'm pro-choice. I wouldn't ever be able to have an abortion but I believe that every woman should have the right to one.

2. Baby Wearing: I'm going to baby wear, I feel it's easier to do things around the house with both arms free and have your baby right with you!

3. Circumcision: I do believe in circumcision and we will be getting our son circumcised (if he is a boy).

4. Adoption: I am all for adoption, if you can't take care of your baby the way you wish you could or you don't want to then I think giving the baby to someone who will care for it or give it the life you wish you could but just can't, is wonderful.

5. Baby Piercing: I think it's cute if you do get it done but when I got my ears pierced it was a birthday present when I was 7 and I loved having the choice to take them out if I didn't want them. So if I have a daughter I'm going to do what my mom did & wait for a birthday.

6. Breast Milk vs. Formula: I'm going to try and breast feed but there are complications that can arise and sometimes you just can't, so I'm for both. I don't think it's bad if you choose to formula feed right off the bat.

7. Spanking: I was raised being spanked and it didn't kill me and I don't think a smack on the butt or the hand is bad. I would never spank hard just a little swat will do after a couple warnings.

8. Co-Sleeping: I've co-slept when I've taken care of all my little brothers overnight when they were babies and I always would wake up and make sure I wasn't laying on them so I don't think I will co-sleep.

9. Home vs. Public vs. Private vs. Charter: I was in public school until high school because I wanted to graduate early & so I started doing online school from home. Ultimately I'm going to put my child in public school until they decide they want to do online or charter for themselves.

10. Vaccinations: Well, when the time comes I'm going to research the vaccinations they "need" at the time and see the pro's and con's and the benefits of getting them. So I'll probably be selective vaccinating

11. Medicating Children: If the baby is sick and has a fever obviously I'm going to give them some Tylenol but if some doctor has diagnosed my child with like ADHD, I'm going to take them to a different doctor and see if they say the same thing before I put my kid on any medication.

12. Cloth vs Disposable Diapers: I'm all for cloth diapering but personally I'm going to use disposable. It's much more easier when they're young and by the time I would use a cloth diaper would be close to potty training anyway.

13. Cry-It-Out Method: Honestly, I don't think I could sit there and listen to my baby cry, I couldn't do it with my brothers, I couldn't do it with my cousins, I couldn't do it with my niece or nephew, and I certainly don't think I could do it with my child!

A lot of my views on things changed when I had DD. Its a whole new ball game, but you adapt and figure out what is best along with them.

This!
I had everything planned out in my head when I was pregnant about how I was going to do things. Redo this after the baby comes! ;p haha of course some of your views will stay the same, but how you think you will deal with situations now is different when you're actually in the situation.

1. Pro-life vs. Pro-choice: I'm pro-choice. I wouldn't ever be able to have an abortion but I believe that every woman should have the right to one.

* I'm Pro-Choice, none of business what some other woman does with
her body, it's her body.

2. Baby Wearing: I'm going to baby wear, I feel it's easier to do things around the house with both arms free and have your baby right with you!

* I'm baby wearing, it's easier, and a nice way to bond with your child.

3. Circumcision: I do believe in circumcision and we will be getting our son circumcised (if he is a boy).

* I don't believe in circumcision, it should be left up to the man, it's his junk.

4. Adoption: I am all for adoption, if you can't take care of your baby the way you wish you could or you don't want to then I think giving the baby to someone who will care for it or give it the life you wish you could but just can't, is wonderful.

* I'd love to adopt, maybe one day. I'd love to adopt from a foreign country.

5. Baby Piercing: I think it's cute if you do get it done but when I got my ears pierced it was a birthday present when I was 7 and I loved having the choice to take them out if I didn't want them. So if I have a daughter I'm going to do what my mom did & wait for a birthday.

* I will get my daughter's ears pierced, it is not up for disussion.

6. Breast Milk vs. Formula: I'm going to try and breast feed but there are complications that can arise and sometimes you just can't, so I'm for both. I don't think it's bad if you choose to formula feed right off the bat.

* I will be breastfeeding, it's healthier, and it's better, than formula.

7. Spanking: I was raised being spanked and it didn't kill me and I don't think a smack on the butt or the hand is bad. I would never spank hard just a little swat will do after a couple warnings.

* I don't believe in spanking, and don't find it necessary to hit my child.

8. Co-Sleeping: I've co-slept when I've taken care of all my little brothers overnight when they were babies and I always would wake up and make sure I wasn't laying on them so I don't think I will co-sleep.

* I believe in co-sleeping, and will co-sleep with my baby. What better
way to bond, than to co-sleep.

9. Home vs. Public vs. Private vs. Charter: I was in public school until high school because I wanted to graduate early & so I started doing online school from home. Ultimately I'm going to put my child in public school until they decide they want to do online or charter for themselves.

* I'd like to home-school. I don't believe in private schools, and I hate public schools.

10. Vaccinations: Well, when the time comes I'm going to research the vaccinations they "need" at the time and see the pro's and con's and the benefits of getting them. So I'll probably be selective vaccinating.

* I will not vaccinate my child, unless absolutely neccessary.

11. Medicating Children: If the baby is sick and has a fever obviously I'm going to give them some Tylenol but if some doctor has diagnosed my child with like ADHD, I'm going to take them to a different doctor and see if they say the same thing before I put my kid on any medication.

I will never, ever put my child on psychiatric medication. Kids do not
need that smurf in their bodies.

12. Cloth vs Disposable Diapers: I'm all for cloth diapering but personally I'm going to use disposable. It's much more easier when they're young and by the time I would use a cloth diaper would be close to potty training anyway.

* I like clothe diapers, please.

13. Cry-It-Out Method: Honestly, I don't think I could sit there and listen to my baby cry, I couldn't do it with my brothers, I couldn't do it with my cousins, I couldn't do it with my niece or nephew, and I certainly don't think I could do it with my child!

* Cry-It-Out? Absolutely smurfing not!! I couldn't listen to my niece's or nephew's cry, why in the hell could I do it with my child?!!

1. Pro-life vs. Pro-choice: I'm pro-choice. I feel using abortion as birth control because you habitually can't be bothered to go and buy some condoms or use other protection is wrong. But if you find yourself in an awful situation where being pregnant and/or raising a baby would make you mentally or physically ill or cause damage then i think you should be able to have the choice. It's not fair to force a woman to carry a pregnancy if it carries so much detriment to her life. I think abortions need to be done as early as possible, there needs to be more education on pregnancy and the 24 week limit is too high.

2. Baby Wearing: Yes, i babywear/toddler wear/preschooler wear lol. It has so many benefits to parent and child and i've loved it all the years i've done it. It can be expensive hobby though lol

3. Circumcision: NO NO NO. I would never mutilate my newborn baby, it's a horrendous act. My son's penis, his choice. There are so many risks and downfalls to chopping off a functioning, working organ on my child's body, so i would never ever do that. Problems resulting in the need for circumcision are so rare, but if my child ever needed any procedure it would be thoroughly considered. I'm glad infant circumcision illegal in some places and hope it becomes illegal in other countries too.

4. Adoption: I think adoption is great if done correctly and for the right reasons, both giving your child for adoption and adopting a child into your family.

5. Baby Piercing: I don't think there is anything cute about a baby or toddler wearing metal jewellery, yuck. It's not my decision to make, they are beautiful as they are born.

6. Breast Milk vs. Formula: There are so many ingredients missing in every bottle of formula and so many risks to using formula, so i do as God/nature intended and breastfeed for as long as my child needs to.

7. Spanking: I respect my child as a human being, i don't think humans should ever be hit - let alone vulnerable ones who are under developed and fully dependent on me. I think it is appalling and disgusting to use shame and fear on a child and call it learning. It's all about parental control, and i have no desire to control another person. I work WITH my child, i don't do things TO them.

8. Co-Sleeping: I love cosleeping, being a breastfeeding mum, it is much safer and healthier for us both.

9. Home vs. Public vs. Private vs. Charter: Homeschooling, my kids can learn autonomously. I'm an unconditional parent, the carrot and stick approach of formal education makes me cringe to say the least. I wouldn't want to waste my childs time forcing them to sit in a room all day with a bunch of kids the same age, i want them to be out in the real world learning about the real world.

10. Vaccinations: No, i have a vaccine injured child and no longer vaccinate, i should've gone with my gut and the research in the first instance. Absolute believer in non poisoning.

11. Medicating Children: I don't medicate fevers because they are there for a reason, but i do if nothing else alleviates my child's pain. Every medication has to be weighed up and researched before use. I tend to use other methods.

12. Cloth vs Disposable Diapers: (you have no idea when you're child will be ready for toilet learning). We cloth diaper - it's better for babies health, better for the environment, cheaper and much cuter.

13. Cry-It-Out Method: No No No. I consider night time parenting just as important as day time parenting, my child is loved every hour of the day.
