Belly thightening, upper thigh pain, mild cramps.....Is it l

posted 6th Nov
I am 38 weeks pregnant with my first, I just went on a drive to take my mans son home, it was about an hour drive, we took a very bumpy/curvy road that caused me to have severe anxiety. During the drive I started having belly tightening every 10 mins with upper thigh pain and mild cramping all over my belly. I have a doc appt on thursday and do not want to go to the hospital for another false alarm. Does this sound like labor??? The tightening comes more often when I am up and walking about but slows to 10 mins apart when I am sitting. Please help!!!

I'd say contractions. Not sure if they would be BH or not though... keep timing them xo

I, personally, would call l&d and get their opinion. It sounds like it *could* be labor to me.

Sounds exactly what I am going through right now and have been dealing with for right about 2 weeks now. I am 36 weeks and 4 days and thought I was for sure in labor all day Sunday and then Monday morning I went to my OB with contractions 2-5 minutes apart and was sent home because it was false labor. I am still not in labor but continue to have contractions and thigh/ hip/ everywhere pain. It's just a end of pregnancy discomfort. I never did have this problem with my son, but with him I only felt the back labor so contraction out front are completely new for me. Unless they increase in intensity (pain wise that is) and get closer together I would just wait for your appointment on Thursday. I know how discouraging it can be to go in multiple times thinking 'this is it' just to be told it isn't time yet and be sent home.

Last time I was checked was my last appt last Thursday I was 80% thinned and 1cm dilated, the pain is getting a bit more intense when my stomach tightens, trying to relax cause I do not want to go in for another false alarm, if I call my L&D at my hospital they will definitely tell me to come in but if it does come more often I will probably call.....I hope this little girl is actually gonna come out!!!

I know the feeling lol I am ready for this little girl to get out also (she is measuring bigger then her gestational age is supposed to be and getting in plenty of practice breathing) I am a high risk pregnancy because of complications with this pregnancy and my DS being born at 37 weeks because I had PROM at 35 weeks but wasn't discovered until he was born. With him I was 80% effaced and 3cm dialated for 2 weeks before he was born. I would get as much relaxing and/or sleep in as possible if the contractions are enough to wake you up it is most likely at least the beginning of labor. Good luck.

I was checked on a Thursday at 11am and was 80% and 1cm. I went in at 5pm to be induced and was 100% and 5cm. -- things can progress quickly lol. Since you don't want to go in yet, definitely time them! If they are consistent, it's probably not false labor. If they stay the same time apart and/or get closer, I'd go in. good luck! xo
