Watching election polling. I am not sure if this was based on a county, or state, but I saw the following:

96% of African Americans polled voted for Barack Obama.

Discuss if you want, or don't.

I don't think it's racist. Everyone is entitled to vote for whatever reason they choose.

The poll and stat itself is not. If the reason they vote for him is because he is black it is

I mean...if it was that high of a percentage of white people, we would assume there were just a ton of white Democrats. Why not think the same of the black voters?

i saw on the news here in my area that like more than 60% of the african american community in my state voted for the FIRST time in their lives in 2008 and yes they voted for obama. something like that. so yes i think its a race thing.

It's really kind of stupid to say a comment like that the colour of someone's skin doesn't mean why all of those people voted for him

hmm...I'm not sure.

Are they implying they only voted for him because he's black?

If it is a true statistic, it wouldnt be racist to say it, however I think it is disrespectful if they are just talking about one race only.

Could be!

DH is picking "polling topics" to debate on in his Political Science class. I found that statistic interesting.

What if 96% of white people voted for Romney

And 96% of black people voted for Obama.

Would that make it more "set in stone" that white voted white and black voted black?

Or would it still be coincidence?

The news was reporting on different groups. This was just one stat.

Depends on why they all voted for Obama...if it's just because he is "partially" black..then yeah.

everyone has the right to vote for whoever they please.
But, i think I remember 95% African Americans voted for obama a few years ago too. I was 16 back then and thought that they only voted for him because they wanted to see a black president. But, i really dont care this year. id rather obama be elected again. And im republican.

I don't think the race of a voter should matter...I saw the same thing a while back that such and such percent of whites were voting Romney and such and such percent of blacks were voting for Obama...who gives a crap what race is voting for who...why separate the percentage of voters by their race category? It's like the media, they are trying to turn it into a race issue.
