Can Gender be wrongly determined ?

Hello Ladies !
At my 14 weeks ultrasound I was told we were having a boy,however now I am 16 weeks and another technician said it was a girl. We were really excited to have a boy, picked the name out and we talk to him all the time. Do technicians make mistake? How can I know for sure what it is before I start buying blue or pink clothes? Please help.

I would believe the technician at the 16 week ultrasound because 14 weeks is still early and the genitalia is still forming. I would wait till 18-20 weeks to be 100% though... even 16 weeks it's a gamble.

They are both somewhat early so either could be wrong. I'd be more likely to go by the 16 week scan though because at 14 weeks babies still have a nub and mistakes can easily be made.

Do you have pictures?

I'd go by the 16 week over the 14 week. Although myself personally, won't trust anything before 18.

I am not trusting anything until I complete 20 weeks or so and I may do the 4 D scan to be 100% positive. I have pictures but not on my computer ,I am not even sure If I know how to post pictures here yet, I am pretty new on this site.

I don't blame you. We found out with our son at 15 weeks and it was pretty clear, but we didn't buy anything big until it was confirmed at 20 weeks. If you do want to post pictures at some point, you just upload the picture to tinypic or photobucket and then you paste the url into the "image" option on here.

At the children's hospital the genetic dr said ultrasounds are only 90% accurate plus my cousin was told her whole pregnancy she was having a girl by different technicians and she had a boy

Do you have a "potty shot" with this shot, you can't really tell because you can't see the crotch.

I would just wait until the 20 weeks scan like you said. You could buy clothes but if you do I would just keep the receipts.

I definitely wouldn't trust it if this is all they gave you. Did they show you the "potty shot" during the ultrasound?
