Can Gender be wrongly determined ?

posted 6th Nov
Hello Ladies !
When I had the gender determined first at 14 weeks I was told it was a boy, now I am in week 16 and I was told by another technician that it was a girl. My husband already has 2 girls from 1st marriage and we were really excited to have a boy, even picked the name and we talk to him all the time. How wrong can the technicians be and how can I know for sure before I start buying blue or pink clothes? Please Help.

They can really be wrong the whole time to be honest. Maybe later on you can have like a 4D u/s and find out then.

14 weeks may be too early to tell correctly. Even 16 can be.

Hell, a technician can be downright wrong, no matter when they do the u/s.

Well, my OB explained to me that before the 18-20 week mark, sometimes the umbilical cord can make it look like a penis, so I suppose it could be wrong. You should just buy gender neutral and go from there if you're really not sure   Congrats either way, though!

This is why my technician won't take a peek until 20 weeks

Usually 20 weeks is a good time to surely find out.

I would wait until 20 weeks myself. They can be incorrect especially at 14 weeks as genitals look a lot a like then.

They can be wrong 50% of the time, LOL. 14 weeks is really early for a definite answer. I found out girl at 14 weeks with my oldest but waited until 18 week to really "think pink". I'd be more inclined to think you are having a girl if that's what they saw at 16 weeks though.

They can be wrong but 14 and 16 weeks is super early. My last I was 25 weeks and my first was 21 weeks for the gender scan

At 12 wks my doc said its only 80% so I am sure 2 wks later isn't much better. They told me not to go out and buy pink any time soon. I have my anatomy scan at 19 which will be a lot more reliable.

I think that is the way to go. But I will wait another 4 weeks until I let them take another peek. Thanks though.

I just had my 1st anatomy today and I am 16 weeks now, so she was pretty sure she saw a girl. I am not trusting anything until I do a 4 d scan.

Do you have an u/s pic on your computer you can share? It's ways fun to show off and let us guess.

I'll just hang in there and wait it out. It's weird because my husband had the pin prediction done before he was married the 1st time and the woman said he'd have a girl, a girl and a boy. Surely , he already has 2 girls and now I am expecting so when they said today it was a girl it came as a shock. We are just superstitious lol
