If I were a SAHM I would think my job description would be:

Take care of children, play with children, feed the children.
Clean the house; vacuum, sweep and mop, clean kitchen do the dishes. Laundy, wash, dry, and put away.
And of course BG so I can continue to educate myself further on parenting ;)

ETA: I would expect my SO to take out the trash, and help with the kids and dinner when he gets home from work.

My main priorities are the kids first and foremost. I'm not a maid, I'm a mom. We homeschool, so that comes before pretty much anything.

I sat down with DH once and asked him what in the house was the most important to him. I can't physically do everything, I can't, it's impossible. So, he told me what he felt was most important so, that comes next.(prepared meals, clean laundry, clean kitchen, and tidy living room.)

And then I just do what I can for the rest. Kids/school come first though.

For me its my job to keep the house clean, do the laundry, take care of the kids, do the shopping, do the cooking....
I will also say though my husband works 2nd shift and sleeps during the day. I dont expect him to do those things. I also take care of the bills. Around the house its his job to take the garbage to the street, mow the lawn, and fix anything that needs fixing. When he does see the kids he does help...which is only on the weekends.
It works for us though

As for doing things inside of the home, clean it. Do the laundry, wash the dishes, take care of any yard work. Etc etc. I do everything during the week, for the most part. I'm home all day, there's no reason why I should be saving things for my husband to do during the week. You should also be doing learning activities and crafts with the children since they are the reason you're staying home in the first place.

Right now I am a WAHM, and I find it very hard to get all my 'house' stuff done because I'm so busy working. However, come January, I will be a SAHM and I am so happy! I hope to stay on top of things, but I imagine that my things to do would include keeping the house tidy, making dinner, laundry, grocery shopping, bringing DD to and from school, still doing all the fun activities with DD, annnddd... I don't know what else, lol. I think that's enough though! I'm sorry that you and DH got into it, I think it's normal when one person doesn't understand the other person's day.

I basically do everything around the house (cleaning wise) except the trash. That's my husbands "job" lol. And he feeds the dogs. Mainly because it makes me gag. I cannot stand dog food this pregnancy, but also because I forget.   lol.

I do the dishes, laundry, pick up after myself and my daughter. (dh is great about picking up after himself) and I cook dinner every night. Also I do the grocery shopping. I have it pretty easy around here. Dd is pretty self sufficient now, so I obviously watch her and play with her, but she picks up her messes and cleans her room.

How much time would you say to do the following:
play with the children

would you consider supervising independent play as part of a daily job description?
how often would you say to do the following:
vacuum
sweet
mop
do dishes
laundry

I'm trying to get an idea as specifically as possible, of what I could put in my own job description.

and yea, i consider BG "parenting education time"

My husband can't afford a full time chef, nanny, accountant, housekeeper, pet sitter, and hooker. So I'm a stay at home mom.

I am a WAHM right now as I said, but I do all of those things on a daily basis. As for how much time you want to actively play with your children, that's up to you.

yea, i don't save anything for my husband, other than heavy lifting. His main responsibilities are garbage, fixing things, and yard work. But when he comes home in the evening, he kind of takes over as "main parent" in responsibilities - diaper changes, bed time routine. So far, I thought it was working for us, until our fight where he seemed to just explode thinking I don't do enough.

So now im just trying to figure out what I SHOULD be doing. As detailed as possible

It doesn't take me long to clean the house, so I don't scrub things forever...I'm not Cinderella. We clean as we go, I do a basic clean of the big stuff every day& I tend to deep clean one room a day (during the week.)We're very busy, usually, so we don't just sit around at home. I'd go nuts.

Whoa, I think you're taking it too seriously. As a SAHM, I'm on my own time. I don't have a schedule. I do things when I feel like it and for as long as I feel like it. All of my cleaning gets done at night, as far as dishes and putting things back where they belong. When I wake up, I get the laundry done, breakfast done, puppy fed and walked. I also do any surface/deep cleaning I need to do during the day (floors, bathrooms, bedrooms, etc). Its all about time management, not schedules.

very normal. I feel really bad, because I think he thinks that I assume his job is "easy" and that when he comes home, he has to "take over"....and I don't want him to feel that way.
