Did your stillborn do this?

posted 6th Nov
**Kind of graphic, you've been warned.**

I read a birth story yesterday, and at the top was a beautiful picture of her stillborn niece laying (what appears to be) on her belly, with her head and arm laying sideways. Like she's sleeping.
I've seen a lot of pictures similar to this from other stillborn mommas. And pictures of baby laying on mom/dad's chest.

So I'm curious.. with Mya, every time her head would tip to the front or the side, blood would drip out of her nose.   The only pictures we really have, her head is straight up and down.
Am I the only one that experienced this? I still long for pictures where she looks like she's just asleep, and not gone..

My daughter was stillborn and her nose didn't bleed. She was gone for at least 24 hours inside of me though. So by the time she came out, she was all wrinkly and definitely looked gone.   I don't think she had much blood in her body by then.

Oh momma thats so sad, Maybe..they could have suctioned her nose? I mean i know its to late to go back now..and im sure you didnt think of something like that at the time.. no one would blame you. I suppose a loss such as that never gets easier.. Healing dust for you and your family.

I haven't personally had a stillborn but my close friend recently did.
When he started to get blue he had a little blood coming from his nose and ears. They swaddled him tightly and kept him upright for pictures.

My daughter passed on the 16th and I delivered on the 18th. She definitely didn't look like a sleeping little baby, either.

I don't remember her having any come from her ears.

Hugs to your friend. I feel really weird even asking this, but it had been on my mind for awhile and my curiosity got the better of me.

You have every right to ask about this. You never know if someone out there has experienced the same thing if you don't ask. I am sooo sorry for your lost. I know it's not the same at all but when I miscarried my conjoined twins at 12 weeks so many questions went through my head I couldn't sleep for months. So, I couldn't image what you went through or are going through still. My thoughts are with you . Hugs!!!

Eden didn't bleed at all, thankfully. I think I would have completely lost it if I had seen even a drop of her blood. In a few of her pictures, she looked like she was just sleeping. But in the majority, she did look dead.

My son had clear fluid draining from his nose. Most of his pictures looks like he's asleep.

You lost her during labor, right?

I now wonder if there wasn't something else wrong with Mya. It was easy to see her cord and say, "Oh, yeah.. that's why she died".. but maybe there was more.

I hate struggling with what-ifs that will never be explained.

I did. So she hadn't been gone for long when she was born. The only thing that was "wrong" with her physical appearance was her color and a little bruising.

I feel the exact same way. They labeled it a cord accident, and they're probably right. But I also tested positive for GBS earlier in the pregnancy, which can cause stillbirth. Plus, I developed a really bad infection after I had her. So a part of me wants to believe it was just a freak accident, but the other part of me wonders if they just gave me the easy answer.

They really do suck.

No but your baby girl had a cord accident right? Could it have been from that?   I am sorry you have to even wonder stuff like this. It's not fair.

I'm glad I'm not alone. Part of me wants to really believe it was her cord, but the other part creeps in like, "Maybe they told you that to save you the pain of an inconclusive autopsy".. IDK. I wonder if it ever gets easier.

I don't know. I never asked, and it feels weird to bring it up to doctors now.. especially since my doctors didn't deliver her.

I read that story yesterday and felt so jealous that they had a semi-normal looking picture of their daughter. You know? They could hang it on the wall and people wouldn't automatically gasp. I mean, you can tell her skin color isn't "normal", but she's laying so peacefully.. like a newborn would. And all of my pictures look so.. stiff and unnatural.

V's nose did. Her skin was also peeling off of her everywhere and had what looked like fluid blisters. Her skin was pealing off her eyelid.

She was gone 3-4 days before I had her. Her head didnt want to hold form. Her skull bones started overlapping.

I wish I would have looked more throughly over her but she was so delicate and I didnt want to make anything worse. We hardly have any pics. Just the few we took on our cell and a couple the nurse took for us.
