Thanksgiving's unique side dishes

Looking for new ideas for dishes on Thanksgiving? What's a crowd pleaser at your family shin dig?

My family really liked my Cranberry Apricot Sauce that I made, but when I made it for SO family they didn't eat it...SO mom did though. This year I will be making pies.

Tamales or pasole mmmmmmm

Polish roses. [Ham with cream cheese spread on it, wrapped around a scallion.]

The spinach dip recipe on the back of the knorr vegetable soup package with crackers, and bread to spread it on.

7 layer salad

I'm hungry for Thanksgiving dinner.

Ugh me too. My SO think's I'm insane because his mom isn't doing a dinner this year, and my grandma is debating on not making a dinner this year too, so I was complaining about it, and I said "SOMEONE needs to make me some thanksgiving dinner because I'm hungry." and he's like "What does you being hungry right now have anything to do with thanksgiving dinner."  

A relative of DH's makes a corn casserole. I've no idea what the recipe is, but it's smurfing delicious, even if it sounds kind of gross.

Me too.   We haven't been grocery shopping in a while and all of the food we have I'm either too lazy to cook or I don't want right now so I've been munching on Ritz crackers. Thinking about Thanksgiving sucks.
Though I'm pretty excited that Thanksgiving is going to be happening twice this year. DH's father's family decided to do it on the 17th because so many people have other plans so I get to pig out two weeks in a row.  

Maple Glazed Carrots are always a hit, and spinach dip but served inside of hollowed out loaf of pumpernickel bread, the bread is great with the dip, nachos etc. are good with it as well.

I make a Vegetarian Pizza...not actually a pizza really but basically it's 2 pkg's of pillsbury crescent rolls spread out on a cookie sheet to cover whole thing, baked following directions on package until golden. Cooled and topped with a mixture of 1 pkg cream cheese (softened), 1/2 cup mayo and one package of ranch powder ( the kind used for making veggie dip) top with freshly chopped veggies- broccoli, cauliflower, grated or matchstick carrots, mushrooms etc. If you like tomatoes make sure they go on last. chill, cut and serve. It tastes amazing, like veggies, dip and crescent rolls all in one. We never have leftovers of this. Experiment with toppings, use anything you like! and you can add an extra 1/2 cup of mayo to the "sauce" if it isn't spreading right for you.

You should host Thanksgiving is no one else is going to. Get some practice making a turkey. mmmmm left over turkey and cranberry sauce with mayo on white bread. My fav.

I'm so jealous, I have to talk my grandma into making me thanksgiving dinner because literally EVERYONE is saying smurf it this year and not doing it.   I told her she doesn't even need to make a turkey, as long as there is a ham, mashed potatos, and polish roses, and some smurfing pumpkin pie I will be a happy camper.

We don't have much food here right now either, SO doesn't get his check until thursday so we gotta scrape by until then.

I would totally host thanksgiving, except for the fact that my cooking skills are less than spectacular hah.. Let's see.. I can cook eggs, grilled cheese, french toast, mac n cheese.. basically anything with directions on the box or that can be cooked in the microwave lol.
