Did I ever shame anyone for applying for government assistance? I don't think I did. So why shame on me? I also don't recall saying that I am financially stable on my own. I said that I was raised in a very financially stable environment and that I've never had to apply for anything from the government. I am a full time student soon to be graduating that has a job that is soon to be a single mom. So yeah, It will be hard. But I am not going to make it harder for myself by not working and depending on my BD to provide everything for my child! I don't have to apply for financial assistance for child care..I could just be a "SAHM". But what type of future will that provide for myself and for my child?   And just because I am applying for assistance... doesn't' mean I am going to get it....

Stop taking bits and pieces of what I am saying and twisting it.

Also, both my parents worked. We were very wealthy and my parents always told me it was up to us to pay for our education. DH'S family is the same way. His father makes so much money but has told all 5 children its up to them to pay for school. Something about that's the way the world works. You've got to work hard on your own to get anywhere in life and things won't be handed to anyone regardless of how much money their family has. I can see their point but I will gladly pay for my DD college. I mean I'll encourage her to work hard in school and strive to receive a scholarship but if she's doesn't I don't see a problem with us helping her out.

Money isn't everything to me either...but stability is....there's a BIG difference.

Because that's what she WANTS to do. I remember my mom teaching me the lesson of "When you're an adult sometimes you have to do things that you don't want to do." I don't think OP and the other girl got that lesson.

I didn't say it was smart. I was confused as to if it was a good decision because I didn't know if all her money would go to child care. Like of there's nothing leftover how would it help? But I had that question answered and if child care is covered she should definetly get a job and have extra money around for emergencies etc....

What if getting a job means you will never see your child/children or they are somehow neglected because you are never around, is it a better life then? 2 incomes isnt always in the best interest of the family in my opinion.

It would be called a refund dumb ass. my DH is going to school for welding and has the post 9/11 bill and he gets refunds every semester right along with every other college student.

As a mother's its my job to ensure my child isn't neglected. So me working will have no effect on how well my child is taken care of.

Yeah I am a dumb ass...because I've never had to apply for a loan and I just don't know how it works....which I later sad.

Good for your husband though!

If you had read what I said you would've seen I'm 2 classes away before I can apply to nursing school. And I'm an er technician and a health unit coordinator. So yes actually I did go to school. But when I had my DD I chose to stay home instead of finishing. Why are you still being rude?! I apologized and everything if I came off that way and you still want to try and put me down? I'm not an idiot. I made a choice to stay home and my DH wants me to and I respect his opinion too. And again he's supportive if I want to finish my nursing degree. But DD is only 6 months so for now I don't worry about it. And when you have to pay for it yourself it's harder for some people to go to college. It wasn't hard for me but for some it may be too much. Idk I haven't been in that situation.
