California Prop B... Thoughts???

Just curious on what your ladies thoughts are on Prop B.

Proposition B would, in an effort to curb STD’s and promote safe sex, require porn actors to wear condoms during filming. Actually, it requires that porn-makers apply for health permits from a government agency that can be revoked if they do not comply with the condom rule, among others. Yet again, government interferes with the consensual exchanges of free people for their own good. If this was something the porn industry or the porn-patronizing public wanted, it would already be taking place. And, because it is in their best interest to run a clean operation, the porn industry has checks in place to ensure their actors stay safe. Indeed, because of its regular screenings, there hasn’t been a case of HIV in the industry since 2004 - and porn stars have lower infection rates than the public at large.

I'm voting no after reading the viewpoints from both sides on my sample ballot.

Hmmm interesting. On one side you are dealing with consenting adults and the government shouldnt have a say so in if protection is used or not. That being said on the other hand they are "working" and in all other lines of works there are rules/laws put in place to keep people safe. EX: Construction workers wearing hard hats. So in that case I could see the use of condoms being required as just keeping things fair.

I honestly dont know very much about it. Why are you ladies voting no? I'm doing more research on my own right now, but I'm curious to your opinions.

they are kept safe through regular screenings. Plus it adds costs of health inspectors, etc- likely to drive the industry out of ca and its a big moneymaker.

Read the sample ballot from the sec of state's website. I think it's a big waste of time and ballot space, which is part of why I'm voting no. Anyway- the sample ballot has really great responses to the proposal from both sides.

I say no. Leave it the companies to determine what their actors are required to do, and leave it to the actors to decide if they want to follow those rules or go to another company or get into another line of work. The government isn't needed.
