Ultrasounds

I am 14 weeks, still havent gotten a single ultrasound, or heard the babys heart beat....at 11 weeks i went to the e.r with really bad lower abdomen pain, and they did and emergency ultrasound, but wouldnt let me see the screen, and made my fiance leave the room for it...They told us they wernt allowed to tell us anything other than everything looked fine, and sent us home...maybe im just this kind of person, but bcuz im barely showing, and i havent seen or heard anything this pregnancy doesnt seem real to me yet. My finace and everyone around me is excited, but i just cant get that way yet...it makes me sad bcuz i want to be just as excited as everyone else around me!!  

Does your obgyn not use a doppler with every visit? At my dr office they start listening for it 10-12 weeks

They don't let anyone in when they do an emergency u/s, and they typically don't show you the screen. I was in the er and had one done at 19 weeks and they wouldn't tell me anything. I didn't get an actual u/s till 24 weeks.

Why dont they show you the screen in emergency u/s, even if everything is fine?

That's very odd. My OB has set times for ultrasounds. 1st one is at 12 weeks to confirm edd then another at 18 weeks to check anatomy then another which is optional at 36 weeks to check growth if everything has been going good. I would be super pissed if I were in your position. It just seems so wrong.

Do you think they get time wasters who fake pains or whatever just to get an ultrasound? I guess they must get some of those.

I didnt have an ultrasound with this one until I was 18 weeks and 3 days. Other than the dating scan at 5 weeks, but yeah normal. And as far as you hardly showing every pregnancy is different and 11 weeks is still early to really be showing much.

I had an emergency ultrasound with my miscarriage last year, my mom and my SO were both in the room and we all got to see the screen   I guess it's different at different hospitals.

That's weird. Last year I had an emergency ultrasound and my dh was there and I saw the screen.
And yeah I would be really irritated if I hadn't heard the heartbeat my 14 weeks. I'd request they check it or find a new dr. maybe?

I have been to my ob three times, including the initial "yea your pregnant" visit. I had an appt at 12 weeks and was convinced that i was going to get to see or hear something but i got nothing....the nurse came in and did my blood pressure and temp then asked how far along i was, i told her 12 weeks, and she said well we wont do the doppler this time. The dr came in and i let him know about my e.r trip and he told me that he would get the ultrasound pics from my discharge dr and review them, measured my belly, gave me a prescription for Zantac, and sent me out for an appt at 16 weeks...if i dont get to see something at my 16 week appt i am changing doctors cuz im fed up with it...i just want to see my baby!!!

Nope, im 14 weeks!!

It must vary like others said state to state bc with my er visits with 3 previous miscarriages dh was with me the whole time and even when i had ultrasounds done

I live near Richland! Where are you going to the dr at?
