Last name?

posted 5th Nov
So, when i got pregnant (we weren't dating at the time but we did go out for about a year and were broken up for a year when i got pregnant), the baby's father wanted nothing to do with the pregnancy or anything. i am currently almost 37w pregnant and he just decided to be apart of his son's life about a week ago. Today, at my NST, he asked me to think about giving his first son his last name. I know my family, who has been here for me since day one, would not support this idea and would be mad about me even thinking about not giving him my last name. however, his family has been really supportive as well and would also like me to reconcider the last name (obviously). would it really be that big of a deal either way? has anyone been in a similar situation? i am really at a loss of what to do.

Hell no, the baby would be getting MY last name, weather his family have been there or not, HE hasn't.

Give that baby your last name.

I'm in the a similar situation. My son's biological father has had nothing to do with my pregnancy what so ever. Barely even talks to me. But requests the baby have his last name. He hasn't bought anything, didn't act concerned when I told him I had placenta previa & the only time he was truely interested was when I posted on facebook that I was naming the baby Colton Andrew instead of after him. Idk what to do because I know he is going to show up at the hospital when he's born. Blahhh, idk.

Same as the OP, give the baby your last name, he doesn't deserve anything.

I have a 7 yr old son that i had when I was 18, when I got pregnant with him his father and I had been dating on and off since I was 15. Well when I was about 3 months along he and I moved in together and when our son was born I gave him his fathers last name. BIG MISTAKE!!! Before my son had turned two I left his father for physical and mental abuse and since then he rarely bothers my son. I want to change my sons name because his father doesn't deserve to have his name carried on by a child he doesn't bother. Dont be foolish, give your son your last name! good luck

your last name. it will just make things easier... i had a frind who gave her daughter the daddy's last name, and she could have been lieing here, but she said she had to carry around the BC to doctors apt, schools and everything, since they had different last name she had to prove she was the mother not just an aunt, older sister, just a kidnapper or something..

Your last name. My daughter has mine (well maiden). When I had her, her bio dad wasnt a part of her pregnancy or life. I always said, "She is being raised by Blairs, in a Blair household, and she is a Blair also."

Nope, she isn't lying....I had to do the same thing. It's humiliating having to prove that you are your child's parent.
