Freaking out about surgery.

posted 5th Nov
I'm being such a big wuss about...which is ironic because the job I have loved the most was as a surgery tech.

I'm getting my tubal ligation on Thursday. And right now, I already feel restless...the thought of it is making my stomach turn, and the stress is giving me a huge headache. I have followed some techniques recommended to deal with the anxiety: researching the procedure and anesthesia, talking to people who have had the procedure done, my doctor and I have a great patient-doctor relationship...but I'm still feeling super anxious about it.
I feel so stupid because it's such a routine procedure...but that doesn't make me feel better
My next step is going to be asking for anxiety meds to take before the surgery.

If you have been in my position...did anything help?

thanks for reading and not making fun of me.

It will be okay. I swear, you lay down, they put you under, and when you wake up it feels like you JUST went to sleep. What exactly are you nervous about? Going under? Something going wrong?

You'll be fine!
If you really don't want surgery then you could maybe cancel and try and set up an appointment for essure. You are awake for it, and it's painless.

You will be fine!! I can imagine being put under and having surgery is scary for someone who hasn't really gone through it. Hell even I get a little nervous before being put under and, I have been put under too many times to count. It is very normal, maybe talk to your doctor about giving you something for the day of the surgery to help with the anxiety, it will help.

I was scared smurfless when I needed surgery for the first time.. I found out I needed it the same day I went into the DR   I never felt so anxious/nervous in my life!
I just kept taking deep breaths, talking to myself saying it would ALL be ok.. I don't remember much after that! I have pretty bad anxiety as well.

You'll be fine!

I just had mine done on the 24th. I was fine up until a week before the surgery thats when I started getting nervous. I just tried to keep myself busy, didnt sleep much the night before but figured I'd get plenty of sleep the next day.

I think it gets more nerve wrecking the more you do it, for me anyway. My first few times were ok, but now I know whats coming. Thinking of that cold surgery room was what kept freaking me out. (Sorry OP)

Thank you<3

The whole thing just freaks me out...honestly. The thought of them cutting into me. The thought of being put under...I'm just not a big fan of being a patient. I love my patients, though!! lol

thank you!
I looked into Essure for a while...and the only thing that makes me uneasy about it, is that it hasn't been around for long. IDK it seems like with whatever you pick there's horror stories lol.

I did the Essure. The procedure was painless, and I went home an hour later.
My second cycle after it I started getting super bad cramps during ovulation, and it lasted for 5 months. Now 15 months later it's all good.
