Vbac vs. csection

Soooo....

I can't decide.

Can someone help me with pros and cons for both?


I think i want avbac but I'm scared smurfless of the babies heart stopping like DD's did.



But o.b also told me i can't base wanting a vbac only because i think it'll be better chance of BF ing.

How did u make Ur decision?

They each have pros n cons its down to what ur comfortable with doing. I'm pro vbac but in the end long as the woman can be happy w her decision I'm for it. I chickened out my 2nd n was afraid I had an easy labor w my 1st that I didn't want to risk painful contractions, etc. now my 3rd I'm digging in my heels for a vbac. My choice though doesn't have to be yours.

A VBAC is statistically less riskier than a repeat. The only real concern I believe is the incision abrupting, which is actually less than 1% if you fit all the guidelines. I'm definitely doing a VBAC.

vbac has less chance of uterine rupture.
vbac does not involve major surgery. which means a faster healing time. you'll be able to hold oyur baby right away.
i honestly don't see why you woldn't go with a vbac.

VBACs aren't super risky actually.

I've been struggling with this too..

Risks of VBAC:
Uterine rupture
Repeat C-section (except it will be emergency, not planned)
Any complications that come with the VBAC failing.

Risks of C-Section:
Same risks as any other major abdominal surgery.. they have to slice you pretty deep and move your organs around and stuff.. it's pretty intense.
Longer recovery time/risk of infection, etc.

In the end.. I have finally decided to do the repeat c-section, even though I really wanted to try for the VBAC, because I will know what to expect and the doctors don't feel that I will be successful in the VBAC (My emerg. c-section was due to a small pelvis, my pelvis hasn't grown so...). It's a really hard choice and one that I've bounced back and forth on.

What was the reason for your c-section? If it was baby related, and you had a good chance of a successful v-bac, I'd give it a try. If it was related to your body (small pelvis), than it just kind of sets you up for another emergency situation.

Baby. Her heart want accepting the induction. It flat lined and they had to revive her.

In the end, insurance coverage.

But my son was also too big and face up, starting with signs of distress which caused my c-section, so I think it's best (for me) to just do the c-section and save this baby from the stress. I know my pelvis hasn't grown and my son was 7lb 15oz. My 1st would have been approx 8lb if he wasn't 4w early. I'm a small woman with big babies lol.

I'm scared of almost losing my baby again. My daughter was born dead. I think deep down I'll do avbac its what I've always planned. But ill probably hire a doula in hopes she can help me with pain management.

Does ur dr 100% support a vbac? U need to make sure bc that will determine a lot. Ur not supposed to be induced w a vbac, if ur dr looked at ur records from the csect they'll tell u whether ur a good candidate or not

but see, since you can't be induced with a VBAC, (others will tell you differently, but the use of pitocin will up the chance of rupture, so i'd never risk it) I think your child would be okay. from what you're saying I mean. and you can still get an epi if you'd like one.

Oh ok. I'm not worried about insurance.

Haha I'm the opposite. I'm a big girl with small babies.
