How long can I stay in Hospital for?

Hi I wonder if anyone can tell me how long you usually stay in hospital with your first baby. I know here in the UK you can be in and out the same day which worries me sooo much! Can you ask to stay for a little longer if your not ready? Thanks in advance x

Why wouldn't you be ready? I wanted to go the smurf home like ASAP. I stayed in the hospital like 3 days with my 1st.

I think at my hospital it was 24 hours fro vaginal delivery, 3 days for c-section.

3 days with my vaginal birth. 4 days with my c-section

some times if you have no complications the baby is perfect you can be out within 12 hours.. alot of times they keep you over night.. if you have a c section its 72 hours.. i was in for a week after my c section

Here they will let you stay for as long as you like within reason. But I do not live in the city. On day 4 after having DS1 they came and asked if I had any thoughts on when I'd be going home. I said can I go today? So I did that afternoon.

On the morning of day 3 after DS2 I asked straight away to go home because it was fathers day, we were out by lunch.

I was group B strep + so I was there for 48 hours.

I went in at 5 am Wednesday morning, had her at 6pm that evening and finally got to leave Friday morning. But I had torn terribly.

I was in for 3 days after a vaginal delivery. They wanted me to be able to pee on my own before I left. I was glad to be there though, in case I was worried about anything and also because I didn't have someone making my meals when I got home lol.

With my first, they let me go 12 hours after I delivered. With my second, I asked to stay longer and stayed for 3 days. Not that I wasn't ready but so I could rest before I went home to my 15 month old daughter. I am a single mom so it was nice to rest for a few days since I knew my daughter was with my mom and being taken care of.

Two days after for my c-sec.was how long I stayed

I had DD vaginally at 9:45 PM on Thursday and went home Saturday morning. They offered to let me stay an extra night, but I was ready to go home.

I was in the hospital 3 days total. One in labor, and the 2 after that.

I had all c-sections.
With my first I stayed for 5 days, second was 27 hours and third was 2 days.

I wanted out as quick as possible with all of them.
